Are there any other options as far as a perch bolt mounted lower tube shock mount? I have a set of the Speedway lower mounts to use with a reworked set of F-1 uppers, but they don't seem to extend out far enough to keep the dust cover (on the shock) from hitting the shackles. I am not above reworking the Speedway mounts, but goddamn What was suppose to be an easy solution (time saver) has turned out to be a head scratcher. I suppose the simple solution would be to use shocks without dust covers but I don't wanna. Thankin' you I'll go get a pic of what I'm working with.
What are you installing these shocks on, pray tell. Information is the name of the game when proposing questions for advice.
This- '34 Chevy truck. Where did you go pasadena? I was waiting for some of that '07 Ol School HAMBer knowledge?
Didn't look like I could use Speedway's shackle plates so got the T shaped ones from CCR putting shock eye above shackle. Might be your answer. http://californiacustomroadsters.com/cacr2.html
How about welding a shock mount stud directly to the front of the axle ... the way Vern Tardel did in his book?
I was finally able to get the pics off my camera. This is the style of mount I am referring to. I know I have seen other styles and was wondering if any of them would place the shock about a 1/2" further forward than this particular mount. I am limited in sideways travel as you can see, by the drag link connection that I am using. I had entertained the thought of the welded stud ,as in the Tardel book, but was trying to avoid that if I could. Thank you for the replies thus far.
