    Anyone remember, way back,
    when Hot Rods and Customs
    were about pushing boundaries ?

  2. For the sake of discussion (as broken as most vehicles look when "layin frame") if you did a major channel job you would not have to go too awfully radical with the suspension. You would still have scrub line issues when you had an air failure (and they all do eventually) but it would not necessarily be chassis related. Your rockers or bumpers would hit first. ;)

As for traditional, A La Kart had air bags in 1957. The design, and initial automotive testing goes back to the 1920's.

    Know your history.

I am almost 20-years into bagging. Have yet to see a total air system failure.

Now it's about coloring inside the lines.

I saw that 57 at 2013 LSRU. Some cars look cool laying rocker, but this one.... not so much. Not sure if anyone noticed, the rocker panels are actually cut off, to get the front and rear closer to the ground.

If you want to ride low before you put bags you can do what I did to my 57... Cut two full coils out the front springs, and take the two smallest leaves out the leaf springs. Leaving the main leaf and the leaf under that one, and then add 3" drop blocks. It will be a bit bouncy, the frame will bottom out on the axle, but it will look cool.

  6. True, but those boundaries were pushed to either:
    1) Increase performance
    2) Create something more aesthetically pleasing.

In my opinion, that '57 is about as aesthetically pleasing as an orca betty in a bikini. But, that being said, I realize that item #2 is always a matter of opinion. :)
