I have searched all over H.A.M.B for ideas for lowering my 51 - money isn't exactly over flowing so I was going to go with 3 inch blocks in the rear with the stock springs and was looking at Jamco 3 inch coils in the front. My questions is, do I need to worry about steering issues at all with a 3 inch drop in the front? And all I need to do in the rear is to as shims to correct for the drop right?? Thanks everyone - I'm still new to this whole thing.

  2. You should be fine with 3'' blocks, and not disrupting pinion angle excessively....Look into aerostar springs(thread),before you do jamco .....Search a lil more grasshopper...;)

If your front springs are in good shape ( not previously heated or cut) you can remove the lower spring pocket by drilling out the 6 rivets and put a 1 inch spacer between and reinstall with grade 8 bolts. Somehow it lowers the car more than 1 inch. That's if you don't want to purchase the Areostar springs. You will have to get a wheel alignment whichever way you lower it.

Thanks INVISIBLEKID....found that aerostar thread....those springs seem like a great option and wont break the bank for the spring and the shocks. Do I need to worry about any steering issues? Anyone not have luck with this set up. Thanks again!

Stock shocks work fine, Aerostar coils for $65 bucks and a 3" block will get you sitting nice. I usually pull a couple leafs out if the rear and bolt on some air shocks... Nice and cheap and the look achieved

like matt I used blocks on rear took out 2 leafs and put in air shocks. in front aerostar coils gets the stance just about right and it steers good. still running the flatty so no power steering. cheapest way unless you want to cut the fronts I don't like doing that but its your car.
