Hey guys I'm new to H.A.M.B. A post from here from 2011 on 49-52 Chevy's (MATTHEW MCGLOTHIN) caught my eye and thought it would be cool to start one for 42-48 Chevrolet's. I would like to see what you have done to drop your ride pererably a non bag set up for those working on a budget. Lets see what you done, don't forget pics and descriptions. Thanks!

Here’s a photo of my fleetline with a 3” block in the rear, I personally think it’s not low enough. Everything is pretty much stock besides the 15” wheels (6 lug).
I’ll like to get lower, I’m about 9-10” off the ground now. 8FCD2A5F-0F48-4A5F-B77C-F97B604354B9.jpeg

Chevrolet used the same basic suspension design until 1954 (1962 on Corvette). But they progressively lowered it starting in 1949 by moving the spindle support up and also by changing from 16 to 15" wheels. I think there were 3 or 4 design variations between 1941 and 1954 with the 53 and 54 being the lowest. If you cabbage the spindle supports get the brakes too, the newer ones are bigger. Also they changed from 6 bolt wheels to 5 bolt in 49.

Chris I don't think you can get any lower without modifying the chassis, you are about at the limit for street driving as it is.

Thank you Rusty very useful information.

I'm planning on cutting my front coil spring a full turn. Depending on how it sits I might remove a leaf spring or two.
