I just bought a 53 ford customline and would love to lower it. But not sure the proper way of going about it.

I had a 53 Vicky back when I was in high school and lowered it by turning the spindle supports up side down. You invert them and then also reverse the sides, right one on the left etc. Then you generally have to heat the supports and bend them into alignment. Another way if you don't want as much drop is to add a spacer between the lower A arm and the plate that the spring rest on. You will need to knock out the rivets and then replace with grade 8 bolts. And of course you can cut the coils. I attached a pic of my 53.

3" blocks in the back and Aerostar van replacement coils in the front, along with some replacement shorter shocks. A couple hours, about $120 depending on where you get your parts from, it'll ride great and look real nice too. There's a few threads already about the Aerostar coil swap, seach some out, should be part numbers available. My '52 has that setup and I love it.

Right now I've just got 2" blocks in the rear of my '52 (pictured) - nothing up front yet.

That's a nice stance on it.
