Whats the best way to lower the front end of a 54 ford car?? i lowered a 55 with the lowering blocks for the a-arms, came out real nice, drove real nice. but was lacking the drop i was looking for. was hoping for an inch or more. does any company make dropped spindles for that car? or are there spindles of off another car that would work?

  2. Do a seach on Aerostar springs. You will find a lot of info on lowering your 54 about 3 to 3.5 inches using Ford Aerostar front spings. Did mine this fall - rides nice. The post also has part numbers for new shocks to use with the shorter springs.

Fatman makes 3" dropped spindles. Gotta use Granada brakes though.

i checked the fatman site, must not list it on there. how tough is it to find granada brakes? so im ***uming you have to convert to disc brakes? which i would want to anyway.

I used a combo of dropnstop.com's spindle kit and the Aerostar Moog Spring swap. Total of 5.75 inches drop over stock on my car doing nothing else.

3 inch blocks in the rear with saggy springs, s****es when I leave my house, but that is due to the 50's curb out there and you will have to take most driveways at an angle and speed bumps slow.

To go lower requires bags or hydraulics.

well, i will have to see where it sits when put together, but i want it low. so probably need a combo of spindles and springs.

Talk to Kremer spring in Inver Grove Heights, they can make any spring you want. I had them make 3" drop springs for the Pontiac. Still may be cheaper to do spindles and Aerostar springs but may be worth checking into.

I know this is an old thread but out of curiosity. Did you ever change the shocks out? Or just the springs?

Sorry, @Baggs has not been here since 2016.

I sense from the conversation that the shorter aerospace springs require changing to shorter shocks also.
