Lowering blocks

    I have done a search, but didn't come up with an answer. I have Cast Iron blocks on my 51 lincoln, but the cast blocks are wider along the casting line, causing my u-bolts to splay out like in the picture below.

    Is this ok, or should I grind channels in the blocks to keep the U-bolts paralell.

    Also, the spring pack bolt head is much smaller than the hole in the block, creating a loose fit. Should I be concerned?

    sorry, that is not my picture, but is similar to my situation. i am running cast iron blocks on a 51 lincoln. the mating surface of the blocks is the right width for the spring/axle perch, but in the middle it gets wider?? Im going to pull them out and see if there is enough material to clearance them.
