  4. I don't think 2 1/2" is low enough.

The blocks you have are for newer cars and trucks. Older Chevys like yours uses narrower blocks. I bought a pair of orginal lowering blocks for my 51 off ebay and they are cast iron. I have seen many people use new lowering blocks and it's just mickey mouse. My friend just bought a 38 Chevy Master Deluxe and it had the new blocks. Man, those u-bolts were bent like crazy. The first thing he did was remove them and installed the correct ones.

Shouldn't use them, early Chevy springs are 2" wide, lowering block should be 2" wide also.

Your best bet is to make your own I did. There used to be a guy on here that made'em whatever drop you want(for the narrow spring chevies) if you don't have the tools to do it yourself.

  10. I do believe the correct width on 49/50 chevy;s springs is 1'3/4'' try chev's of the 40's

  11. Don't ya love it when someone posts a question, then there are questions back at him because he didn't explain it well and then he doesn't bother to come back on? Especially when he has impatiently bumped his own thread!

It is pretty obvious that he meant there is 1/4" of block hanging over each side of his leaf spring.

My ex-girlfriend bought a 59 Ford wagon a couple years ago with generic parts-store cast aluminum 3" blocks installed. BEWARE. Those blocks fell apart when I took them out. Check the mini-trucker suppliers out. Some sell EXTRUDED aluminum blocks with the pinion angle machined in. Well worth the few extra bucks.
