Lowering my 51 chevy

    Did you any of you guys have to reset the pinion angle when dropping the rearend?

    Yes - I spent a lot of time making sure the angles were even after I lowered it (2.5"), only to find I had a vibration at highway speeds. Ended up having to put a 1/8" shim at the back of the block to angle the front down a little more before I got rid of the vibration. It worked out to about a 3 degree difference to which I've machined the blocks to suit. Doesn't make sense because everything I've read in posts and on the internet say you need to have the angle equal !!!

    My wife put 3" blocks in her '51. There was some excess hanging down, but I didn't think it was an issue... until she s****ed them on a speed bump. I trimmed them after that and no problems.
