Want to lower the '57 a little (maybe 3-4" in the rear and a little less in the front)... Been lookin' at a couple of different options and the best solution I can come up with is to get taller shackles and remove a leaf or 2... If this is not the best way to go please give me another solution... (thought about flipping the axle but I will only have 2" clearance if I go that route) If this is the best solution which leaf(ves) should I remove? Also, what should I do to treat the leaves before I re-install them? Thanks. Tim
flip the rear axle and c the frame , dropped axle up front, or if you are trying to save $ flip the front axle too , or chanel the bed and cab
Definitely want to save $$$ but want to do it right too... Can't flip the front... If I do the oil pan will only last to the first pot-hole... As for the rear, if I flip it and "c" it I don't think there will be enough clearance for full travel... That's why I came up with the solution of extended shackles and losing a leaf or 2...
here's a pretty good article on lowering your TF. http://www.chevytrucks.org/tech/TF_lowering.htm Works in the back as well.
Simple: Rearched springs and two inch blocks out back, dropped axle up front. As far as the clearance issue w/ c'ing, where are you worried about clearance? You can always raise the bed floor a few inches.
