i have a 50 chevy that has a rearend from a 74 nova, and it has 2 inch lowering blocks under it now, does anyone make a 4 icher, and if so, where can i get a pair.. is there another cheap way to lower the back of my car?and for the front i have a set of 2 inch dropped coils, and would like to go 2 more inches, is a drop spindle the best way to go, i dont want to go with airbags, oh yeah and the front has dick brakes, but all the rest of the suspension looks like stock stuff......thanks guys..

howdy. you can make yerself some blocks,of some square tubing. just be sure to block of the ends, and remember the offset on the mounting holes.(moves the aksle 1" one of the ways,if I remember correctly..). maybe some shorter shackles or some removed leaves would also help.
In front,I think you can get some spindles from a 54 chev, drops one inch compared to the 50. not sure about this, and the discbrake setup,though.. Good luck!

i thought about pulling a few leafs out, but there all inside a metal case, kinda like a pack, is it cool to cut the metal open?and offsetting the holes, what do you mean by that, what holes?thanks again

you can get 4" lowered blocks from djm in gardena, ca. but pulling leafs isnt a bad idea either.

on the rear leaf, its a little centeringbolt,to keep your aksle in the right place. its usually straight under the rearaxle, but not so on a 50 chev.. its right in front of the aksle, cause the original one is hinged, because of the torquetube setup.. No big deal, but will get your rearwheels in center of the fenderopening. And thats good. [IMG] Just get rid of the steelsurrounding, its there to protect the leaves, and the grease between them..

  6. lowering blocks areant the best way to lower a leaf spring car. its the cheapest but also the chezziest way to lower. 2 inch blocks would be the max i would ever put on something. its better to get lowering springs or have lowering springs built.

i have a 72 chevy truck that i lowered with 4 inch lowering blocks, and it rode like shit..it bucked back hard when i hit a bump, is this common for lowered leafs?i also understand my car is differnt from my truck, but i still want a descent ride. i dont want to be bouncing like i do in my truck...

You can also just walk into any off-road parts store and they will have cast iron blocks all the way up to 6 inches. By the way you want cast iron blocks as they have a greater tinsel stregnth then aluminum and wont shatter like glass (like the aluminun ones tend to do) when your big heavy car hits a big ass pot hole.
