Hey guys just wanted to pick you brains a bit. Since the motor is out of my 55 failrlane waiting for the 390 to go in it has given me some time to stare at the front suspension and try and figure out the best way to lower it. I dont want to go super low with it since its going to be a daily driver in the denver snow. So what have you guys done to the fronts to get them down? Thanks for looking guys.

I would install the motor and trans first to find out the ride height with the heavier engine and trans .
You can always use simple lowering blocks under the lower A arms . This is used a lot . That will give you about 1" or so BUT I would wait till the 390 is installed .
Maybe someone else has the same engine trans set up that can tell you what they did .

Just a note, I have set the motor in and have researched the weight difference between the y-block and the 390 and what I have found is that they are right around the same weight. I would like to go in the 3 to 4 inch range I think.

I like A-arm spacers. I mean, they won't get you all the way where you want to go, but they're a good step towards it. I've got cut coils and a-arm spacers, and my car rides pretty well, for being pretty low.

Well I'm thinking the aerostar springs are the best bet here. I do have a question tho an the a-arm spacers, and this might be a bumb question but how do the work, and where can you get them?

Oh, you can get them from Night prowlers, or you can just make some out of a few blocks of aluminum or steel, and some heavy duty grade 8 fasteners and lock nuts and all that fun stuff.

Essentially, what they do is drop the spring plate in the A arm. Therefore, lowering the car.

Best part about the Aerostar springs is ride & handling are much better and it will drop 2 1/2"-3" so they are a win, win.

Aerostar springs! I got about 3" and the ride and handling improved greatly. I would suggest this to everyone in our group who is considering lowering. See my pictures in the Aerostar thread.

like the guys said. . . aerostar springs. but that'll only give you 2-2.5 inches. you can use granada spindalls as well witch(with the aerostar coils) will give you a coupple more and get you down to that 4" drop. plus the granada spindalls will give you the option for disk brakes.
