Thanks guyz. Had to move this project out to get to some priorities but will be back at it sometime this summer. Thought I'd show some comparison shots.

Can barely make it out behind the flatbed. Will get back to it soon.

Haven't pulled her back in yet but haven't forgot it either. Iwanaflattie...the 1/2 ton hinges will work, jus need to mod the bracket on hood because it curves in so fast, but I think I really want the factory COE hinges if I can get ahold of them.

  10. Man, this is a wild chop shop. This is great work & even better imagination. I am totally impressed... I got to keep an eye on this stuff, real cool..........

The truck is looking great, I just thought of it and I am biased because I have one, but it makes me think of a corvair with the trunk up front and engine in the rear. Put a rampside in the bed and then it will really be like one.

I like that you are going to run 8 lug wheels, I prefer the HD look with these trucks.

Oddly enough the ramp door was really on my mind so as to access the welders in and out! Jus like the Corvair.

It is looking good. Love the decals on the driver's door. Will you try to save them?

Actually hated to cut these doors because of the decals...had to sacrifice them. The doors and fenders are actually learners for the real ones I think...jus science it out for the better pieces I have. Hope to get back on it soon!

Have you figured out how to make the doors work like in the rendering?

65standard...yeah one of the many points that the rendering doesnt take into consideration. I dont believe with the stock hinges the swing on the door will clear the fenders. I did save the hinge pocket and it will fit below the top hinge (the doors on the truck are cabover but not using them because of the outer hinge), but I believe it may have to be suicide and am worried about the egress between the fender and door. If it opens 90 degrees I wont sweat it.

Suicide doors is the way to go. I tried to figure out the rear doors on Big Bertha to open forward but it was much easier and cooler to do them suicide

You should be able to make the doors open normally if you have the pivot point of the hinge outside the door. Pretty much the same style cabover hinge you have now. It just may need the pivot move a little more to swing past the fender.

Suicide doors would allow you to use hidden hinges. But it looks like entry into the truck would be much harder. At least not without the risk of scratching the fenders getting in and out.

I'll have to look at that closer on my original COE in regards to the outer hinges...good point.
