Low Riders, Makes me think of Bellflower Blvd cruising Harveys Broiler in the 60's....Low cars big hair and pomps, down on the ground cruising Harveys. We would pull in there park and eat and watch cars , women and paint jobs. Groucho great pic's thanks.....
Denver Mullins Rivi.. White w/ Orange interior and Hydraulics. The gold Rivi in the background with the door open( Door handles being shaved an a dent taken out by my Dad) belongs to Larry Horton form San Bernardino, He lived down the street on Bunker Hill. The 57 Sedan Delivery was Dad & Uncles(sold it cos it ended up too radical for the street) The 56 hardtop was Dad & Uncles, also.
Pictures I said I would scan and finally did. Joe and Jay Fishbecks Chopped Rivi on Air Cylinders. 1967 - early 1970's
Yeah this is bad ass, still from the original link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/80643375@N00/sets/72157594581005075/ I'll never get tired of askin for more on this car, but apparently nobodys got crap! And more on the Vega panel too..... BTW, anybodys got 70s Lowrider mags 4 sale?
This one might sound like a totally stupid question, but other than makin them from scratch, what other way is to make those flared wheel arches on the 'stang? Is there a car to rob of those? Or do they use to sell weld ons? Any info appreciated? even a "small pages" tech would do. Im no metal man, but can build some if teached well.
I have a soft spot for these rides, lived in L.A. for a couple years and made some great friends in East L.A. Always a cool Sunday cruz/show on Whittier Blvd. in East L.A. on Sunday and I was welcomed into their circle withe familias and B.B.Q's etc. The warm vibe of the family is so sool!! I am just a gringo white boy, and I was driving a Toyota Supra at that time, they didn't judge me by that. Especially love the cool "Bombs". Viva Los Lowrider!! ~Sololobo~
Great shots Hoppy! Must love the chopt 72! The grille on Chico Angel Imp is just like one i made. Flat chrome stock side to side covering headlights. This ones a lot nicer though! Anybody can reply to my flares question?
A lot of the molded flares like that were built up from fiberglass layered over a piece of steel that was either welded or screwed to the fenderlip and extended out from the wheelwell like a shelf. Slowly build the layers of glass and resin up until the extended lip is blended into the panel, skim-coat with bodyfiller, sand, and paint. Make sense?
Yes it makes sense thanx a lot. Im just a bit hesitant on using 'glass, its not my element at all n im kinda worried about screwing it big time. Does anybody have a step by step article? I'll go look at one now anyway, im pretty sure they would look tits on my project and im not far from gettin to the body mods, so its just about time to start plannin on everything esthetics-wise. These here and the previously posted 'stang represent rather well the look im after, the orange/gold 'vair might be a lil too extreme thoug, but the othe one is close to perfect. Thanx a ton. Nick.
Found some kool shots while lookin through lowrider mag site. Some where the same as the original link on the 1st post but some where "new". enjoy!
