Denver's Riviera was yellow pearl with black spider webbing w/black top (not chopped) with Buick wires & hydraulics. Way cool. The chopped one your dad is thinking of was built by the Fishbeck Bros who shop was on Mill St. in Berdoo.
You're right the Fishbeck's(Heckl & Jekyll) did do the black one. They use to run with Denver.Next time I drop by their house I'll ask them about Denver's Rivi and see if they have any pictures. They also painted Nanook.
Denver Mullins Rivi was White w/Orange & Red Flames adorning a black vinly top. I seen it at a used car lot in the mid 90's on Mt. Vernon & Laurel Ave. I can tell you (Cos they're my Dad & Uncle) The Heckle & Jeckle Candy Root Beer Brown(not black) 64 Rivi, A low mile, only FOUR years old at the time, Doctors trade in for a 68 Rivi.. used air cylinders(not bags) to put the car right on the ground. Rondy's glass cut the windshield, twice, cos Dad & Uncle broke the first one installing it. That snapping sound that makes you sick when it breaks. I will upload pics real soon. This pic here has Oct 70
I went over to the Fishbecks today and asked them about Denvers Rivi. They said that they didn't do the paint,McCarren did the upholstery. They showed me a picture of it it was pearl, flamed, black vinyl top and wire wheels. They told me a after Denver died it ended up in a used car lot on Mt Vernon in San Berdoo in the 90's.The wire wheels ere gone then. They don't know what happened to the car after that. They also showed me pic's of their Rivi before it was chopped, then when they did the chop the car was turqouise, then they painted it dark brown, it looked black.Their son is going to try post some pictures in the next day or two.
These are not from the early days except from the gipsy Rose close up, but they seem to represent pretty well IMO. Skoty Chops Galaxie is a top noth low no doubt, then there is The Lifestyle cc gathering, i know many of those are prolly on daytons but the picture is killer! Then a picture i found home of Skidmarks beautiful 60 Olds!
Then what about Jesse James M.G. Folsom Prison built 69 impala? Is it OG enuff for your taste? I personally love it!
Now how about this Poncho? I have this picture from a while but no info about the car.....which is bitchin! Info anyone? Then a french glasshouse chevy, which i believe comes from the states anyway, and a swedish built boatail, that if im not mistaking is og swede low.
That Boattail has been around for a long time as lowerider. I took these photos in 1983 and 84 here in the Netherlands at a "custom Car" Show 1983 And the next year (I think) is came back with a new paintjob and interior.
Peugeot Low Rider from the same '83-84 show This Chevy came also from Sweden (as was the Riviera) and as far as I know this car still is around today... but has a redone front (luckily) and rear end... I was a little kid when I went to this custom car show... my first one ever.. and these cars are a major part in why I love custom cars so much...
Thanx for re-settin this thread to its standards I tried a few times w/ newer pics as i havent anymore of the oldies! The little pug is really neat! love when euros are done properly! About the chevy then.......i know its kinda aweful but i kinda like the front end "...shame..." its very representative of the era i guess.??. the rear end was plain ugly thou.
I'm pretty sure the Pontiac was for sale on Ebay earlier this year out of San Diego, and bought by someone in Texas just before the Lone Star Roundup. So, maybe you can search completed sales on Ebay and find it?
This a very nice car. Brings back drawing memories I used to draw it in school all the time for other kids with the lowrider logo next to it. Someone built a ride just like this here in Austin in the 70s early 80s I think by Azteca C.C. I remember seeing it at carshows as a kid then in the 90s it ended up in a (closed down) junkyard.
Wow, I didn't realize that my latest purchase has more lowrider potential than anything else. It's a '66 LTD that I bought for the low mileage 289. I was going to swap engines with another one of my cars and flip this one in the spring...until I SAW the car. Somebody put some money into this car. Repainted with a larger than original flake, interior redone in velour, and it's been lowered. The underside of the hood and the inside of the trunk are upholstered too. I was going to ditch the Cragars, but I think I'll put some whitewall tires on them instead. Thanks for some inspiration!
Yeah Rockets I took the three top pic.s in the '70s the owner of the bug was Tito R. from Lompoc Ca. I have a few more pic.s of it
Yup, i saw the Poncho cruising through downtown San Diego early in the year and had never seen it around before, then in April i drove to the round up and saw the Poncho sitting in that same spot. the original owner is on the board i believe his avatar is a pic of the poncho. forgot what he goes by
