  12. I love Lowriders, been in to 'em since '74.

Here's a pic of one I helped with the paint on and striped here in Chicago in'83.

Nads: that '57 chevy ROCKS, man! You really amaze me.

I see a Riv similar to that magenta one around Detroit once in a while. That isn't a pic of a Detroit area car is it? It has some really nice striping and belongs to a nice guy too. My buddy chatted him up about air suspension for his '50 Chev.

the lowrider sites don't seem to be much interested in traditional low riders, so i guess this forum, with its interest in customs, is about as close as the two (customs and 'trad' low riders) will come together.

i usually like to have the resource available to back my claims, but i don't for this instance. one of my greatest influences is Pat Ganahl, and he has pointed out in his writings, that the lowriding community was the primary keeper of the custom 'flame', so to speak. i'm talking about during the muscle-car and street rod era, when there wasn't much interest in customs.

i'm not that interested in the gold-plated everything, hoppers, euro-lows, or hondas, but i sure like mid 60's gm's with cragar's or astro's, wild paint, shaved handles, etc. .

    hey g***erfreak,
wes was asking about traditional lows . even though he did not say it out right .this a traditional hot rod and CUSTOM car board...and a traditional lowrider is really just a mild custom car .lowered , few body mods,....in fact a low rider used to be the driver not the car at all ....now an 80 s monte is a low but not a traditional low so he was not asking about those .....maybe wes should have spelled that out for you ....but if you don't dig lowriders why did you open this thread ? as much as you say you aren not stirring the **** . it sounds like you are....a 60's style custom pretty much is a '' lowrider '' ....and yes a traditional low fits here ..what you said is ignorant ....in fact ryan had an impala low ....so before you go hiding behind ryan like you did behind your mom's skirt when you were a kid . get your facts straight ....
some of the '' veterans'' of the board have had or still have lowriders ..and .... so basically what i am saying is ......shut the **** up ...

I don't know if mine would count as a lowrider or just a mild custom. Goozgaz you don't have a shot of that car from the front do you I would like to see what the grill looks like a bit better. I'm trying to come up with Ideas to change the grill out in mine. Besides with a 60 merc grill since I can't find one.

I'll try to scan some better some better pictures of the front and rear. There was also a good picture of it in the last Rodders Journal.

    I agree with G***erfreak!

Lowriders can't be traditional. They have only been around since 1979 when Robby Benson drove one in the movie WALK PROUD.
