here is my older brother's car. these pic.s were taken from the "lowrider" mag. web site. http://lowridermagazine.com/features/0304lrm_fantasia/ BTW crewcutkid, you have your head so far up your ***, you'll never see daylight! it is best to be silent and thought a fool, then to open one's mouth and remove all doubt!
In order to not keep the internet arguement going, I never had any intention of steping on anyone toes. Some people just like starting **** I guess. I never did understand peoples needs to create conflict. I guess its just how ya take it. I'm a grown man with a family and better things to do than talk **** on the net,**** it. All post on this suject by me are deleted. Guess some one has to stop and say,"this is lame". My contributions will be "traditional" styled lowriders-customs. Got them both off the net. Built by aaron lobato(spelling?), featured in rod and custom and rodders journal a few months back. Watson style paint and flake always grabs my eye. Anyway, enough *****in, check it out.
Somebody say something about the Avila Brothers? "To me" (being in the paint biz) lowriders(not the Tahoes, Hondas etc.),rods and customs go hand in hand. Guys....don't be so quick to judge the Lowriders till you have seen the extreme amount of work put into their rides. You have see them in person. Candys, flake etc. have become popular again on Hondas and Mustangs. I have painters who have bought it for years and never stopped buying it. Super cool guys that are a great source of information. Anybody really like Tamarind Jarritos?
hey lgh1157 , where did you get the pic. of the orage '65 chevy " summer madness"? thats my oder brothers 1st 65 chevy. that pic. was taken in front of our home in sun valley, back in about '84. can you e-mail it to me??
WOW! Who's sister is that? I buy Lowrider once in a while. What I like about it, (besides somebody's sisters) is the featured cars are the real deal. Regardless of how much bling and how many different dubs get advertised in the mag, the editors know that the "right" wheel choice for 99% of all the Lowrider's cars is the straight laced "Dayton".
i havent really contributed to this thread,,well, basically because ive pretty much said what i had to say before,,no point trying to prove a point,,im getting older,,i also promised myself i wouldn't get internet battles like before..although i have talked **** to some that just have no clue and STILL think they should add their two cents... personally,,,i think its so ****in cool that there are knumbskulls that still hate lowriders,,,i mean,,would it be cool if everyone loved them? thats like people saying they hate HOTRODS..the "***LE" is so across the board... and personally,i went through some personal conflicts when i decided to leave the internet a month or so ago,,and mainly..it wasnt because of the HAMB so much,,mainly idiots who talk so much ****,,but dont know what they are talking about,,,but, alot of it had to do with a lowrider site i found (LIL)..people there really didnt give a **** about the past and all the COOL *** rich history...aalot seem to rather bag on others ****,,,i had one of the "MAIN OG" members bag on my 56 cuz he said lowriders DONT have flames...which is OK,,since i never said my 56 was a "LOWRIDER",,but to me,,its a CUSTOM,.,.before cars had any ***le other than CUSTOM...and NO thats NOT why i left homo,,that had nothing to do with it,,,its all the other hating that goes on in that comunity...they hate as much as 'others' hate lowriders,, i grew up around my dad in the garage,,before i was born and up until i was a lil kid he was from the IMPERIALS car club,,this was way back in the late 60's early 70's...so,lowriders became a huge impact on my life,,he owned alot of bombs and impalas,,if it wasnt for lowriders,my mom and dad may have never met...my mom grew up in EAS LOS by the old boys club..and would walk home from school past the parts store my dad managed with his 64 or other flavor of the week parked out front on the curb of whitteir blvd...STRONG HISTORY..(my mom and dad can tell storys till the sun comes up and you still wont hear it all,,and they love telling storys,,they make you laugh, cry and just dream,.....they met,,fell in love and i was born later,by the time my younger brothers had been born,he had left the lifestyle,,due mainly to the violence that SOME car clubs had taken on along with the fact of raising a family..but ONE thing that trips me out ,is that ,no disrespect to my other brothers, but im like the only out of my brothers that my dad loves to sit and talk about lowriders with,he's always asking if i remember.....most of the stuff i DONT remember,,,but its always so *****in to hear the stories... i decided to sell my monte and my 48 lowriders...only for good reasons, that may not seem to wise right now... ,,a few months ago i repurchased a 63 convt, impala project i first layed eyes on when i moved to kentucky back in 93,but at the time had no way to finance the build so i p***ed,,a few years later,,a freind found it after the owner had moved and i lost track of it,,he drug it home and had plans on getting it on the road, but after starting a new buisness he decided to sell, since he didnt have the time to build,,i picked it up along with a parts car i found and replaced the front sheetmetal and trunk and just basically collected parts for a couple years,,then i scored a 65 impala SS convt and decided to sell it since i had a running driving convt... earlier last year me and my uncle went to check out an old 50 plymouth for sale at this horse trader's house,,the 63 was just as i had left it back in 96... a deal was made and i bought it back this last december,,,my plans are to build it back all original but with a reinforced frame, wires and hydros,,no gold or any BS,,but just OG in aperance.. thats gonna be along term project ,,maybe the rest of my life,,,so thats why i've decide to move the others,, im getting ready to build a new HOTROD also..,,but the impala will be my old man thing,, ive always loved traditional hot rods, customs and lowriders,as far back as i can remeber,,,what else is there? anyways,,a recap,,if people hate lowriders,,thats cool,,its hard for alot of people to accept anything that mexicans have done good at.. ..sad fact of life,,not trying to make this a RACIST post by any means,,but,i really dont understand why some people hate lowriders with a p***ion so much???
-------------------(LIL)..people there really didnt give a **** about the past and all the COOL *** rich history...aalot seem to rather bag on others ****,,,i had one of the "MAIN OG" members bag on my 56 cuz he said lowriders DONT have flames...which is OK,,since i never said my 56 was a "LOWRIDER",,but to me,,its a CUSTOM,.,.before cars had any ***le other than CUSTOM...---------------- **** REYNOLDS---------- i believe i know you (from the LIL site) i think, i also think i defended your car on the "post your rides" thread?!?!? maybe it wasn't you, but i have been kicked around there to, until i let it loose one time and spun a couple of fools replies with the "lowrider" **** that i DO KNOW!!! i wasnt' braggin' over there but i have been ridin' since '83 and some of those fools weren't even born in '83, so kick it back over there when you get a chance, and we can go -toe-to-toe- over there together if you want, 'cause if you have the car i think you have, it is a bad mo fo!!! peace...ken
i really dig traditionally styled lowriders, they always seem to have the coolest paintjobs, i am a man that loves his metalflake, even though all i have is flat black at the moment. i dont know how people say they arent traditional, the corvette x -sonic and the awesome 55 buick Busonic btw that is featured in this months rod and custom magazine, had hydraulics in the early 60's.
hehehe,thanks...but man,,its like you said,,most of them werent even born in '83! hahhaa,,i still check them out,but just for the pics... alrato!
Donnie, you were right about this topic, just what we were talking about on Monday. Traditional lows will always have a place in the history of Customs.
TO **** Reynolds, Even though I look like a New York Sicilian, I have to say that as much as a I love Low Riders, being a white guy,I almost see it as something I have no right to be a part of but do dig it from afar. I always think that when a non mexican builds a low rider,it just aint the same. I see some of the white guys driving low riders the same way I see white guys speaking with fake ghetto inflections in their voices. I say some of only because I know there are plety of white guys who really understand the culture and the true SoCal lowrider lifestyle. My love and lifestyle revolves around New York New Jersey true customs most of which have been built by southern Italian Americans and for many in my area p***ed down from generation to generation. So just as some white guys who are ****in racist hicks look down on lowriders as a joke ,Maybe some stay away as not to intrude on a beautiful cultural art form in its truest form. I guess what I mean is that as much as no one likes to bring up race, when it comes to lowriders, race is a major factor, as it is to a much lesser degree in my area when it comes to say , a 54 Merc, dragging *** with a slanted kit,10"extended 1/4/ panels, cruiser skirts and 1 slanted antenna mounted on each 1/4 panel and a little too much Nicky Rorro striping.
ha donnie have you looked on ebay recently. damn near your pic up for bid juiced and everything. still under 5 grand right now. man i love 58s.
oh and most of the folks that care about this post swing thru LIL now and then and get what good there is out of it just as we do here. just for fun heres a photoshop of the panel job i was thinking of for the buick that isn't going to be done now(got other plans, but i think i'm getting another wildcat when this one is done and it will get it if so)...ken....
and if you'll really pay attention the cars that are built with true taste can p*** in all categories. think i'm wrong pull a nicely done simple say any early 60s gm product with a nice metallic body with a pearl white roof and white guts rolling on a set of tru spokes and you'll get attention from everyone. i know my old '63 imp was simple metallic sky blue with pearl white top with blue interior, tru spokes with thin whites, and cut coils. the lowrider kids **** over it, the custom guys loved it, hell even the restorers were jealous of it because it was clean and simple but really caught your eye and didn't let it go. i sold the car and help do the hydraulics the same weekend i sold it. almost took away a little of its appeal in a way. but damn it looked good sitting on the ground. the guy drove it everywhere for about a month. took it to spring break in fl, it was stolen and has never been seen again. i lost most pics of the early cars i built when i first started painting. its all i did and all i wanted to do from 15-about 22 or so. i started having lots of breathing trouble and was advised to leave the business. it crushed me for a while. back then i'd paint at least a car a week or so. i'm going on 33 now my goal is a car a year. my health is more important even though it is the only thing i ever made money at that i truely loved. hell i way undercut myself most times just to get to do the jobs...ken....
Hey bro, I got that pic from : Layitlow.com I can email it to you if you want, that site has some cool pics on it. Do a search for 'supremes' and there is about 18 pages of old lowriders. i'm at work til the morning, so if you want i'll email you in the a.m. L
a few more. This pic taken at a local car show during the Easter Holiday. The kids got a big kick out of the display.
crewcutkid.... you're an idiot. Zoot suites were being worn by all walks of people at the time not just Mexicans. I resent the implication that Mexicans of the time were draft dodgers and anti-military service. Contact some of the Veterans groups in the latino communities and ask them about their draft dodging history. I'll bet they'll give you a better education than your Stanford professor friend. Now go back to playing your Cherry Popin Daddys CD.
