Yeah,Lowriders are cool if they're done the right way. That's true.I prefer the simple and stock looking cars.South Side C.C. has many of them. Here are some pics of a '64 Impala SS Droptop which belongs to a good friend. The car is still in the build-up and therefore not that shiny.Thought it would be interesting nonetheless. We know each other for many, many years and on this car you can actually see where I have been the last years.I could write a book about it...

Here's the car shortly before it went to the paint shop.We removed the paint completely by hand.Everything, inside, outside, underneath, doors, hood and trunk etc.The car was completely in bare metal.Never will do that again...
It rolls on 14" 100-spoke Dayton's and 5.20's.The only Lowrider tire ! The frame is powdercoated and all bolts etc. are zinc-plated.Brake drums and tie rods are still primered.Just ignore that.

The frame is completely reinforced with 1/4" steel from front to back as you can see from the next pics. The car has a 4 pump system and he definitely wants to use it.Since this is a Convertible major reinforcing wa required.Paint underneath is spatter paint which you can usually find in the trunk of Impalas etc.We saw this on Box's '64 Impala (Box's Custom Hydraulics Paramount,CA) and liked it instantly. He first wanted to paint the car underneath as well but this is actually not a good idea due to the weather over here...Looks a lot brighter than it actually does on this photo due to the spotlight.

The reinforced frame.I smoothed all the welds in endless hours to give it a "stock" look. All reinforments the car had from the factory were removed and after reinforcing we welded them back on.

There are aprox. 650 pounds of metal attached to the frame due the reinforcing and welding. When we removed the frame from the body all it needed were two guys but now it takes at least 4 guys...

This area was very hard to do as it needed many metal patches all made from cardboard templates.Box told us the crossmember needs heavy reinforcing when you want to hop the car without getting damaged.

The rear with its straight's was more easy to reinforce.Believe it or not,but we spent almost a year just working on the frame reinforcing and molding. We worked on it on weekends and sometimes after work.I know, this can be done a lot faster as Lowrider shops don't mold welds but when Box aka Mr.Mojo saw pics of the frame he was very impressed and said some white pinstripes would look good on it.

This is the car BEFORE all the rebuilding. It now is painted black and will get a saddle interior. We still need to rebuild the engine(327) and ***emble the whole car.Progress will be just as money permitts...

Thought some of you might dig this...

Many thank's to all who have posted these Beautiful car's and truck's. But, some quote's read outta O'Lie-ly Spin Zone. Pick a name, topic, ect. and go surf, and see more of a balanced view of the 'story in the headline's'. Too many closed mind's, need more flow of idea's and information. Cool?

Anyone have pics. of Gypsy Rose.. I know he's an IMPERIAL..
Some of the best car clubs I saw through the mags. growing up, Imperials, Lifestyle, Dukes... Lowriders are for everyone.. If you look Lowrider magazine you'll see; Damu, Uso or Uce now, both clubs cross the color lines.. ****reynolds I saw you asking for 5:20's from Corky, man I miss those tires, when my bros. car was looked up on all fours and he took a turn too fast we would slide back and forth to regain control.. Those tires would cost 20 bucks to replace, I'm glad there bringing them back, maybe not for that prce..Lowriders are my first Love. And I love seeing that there are people who love them like I do on this board.. Someone mentioned the editor of the RODDERS JOURNAL and his view point, I love that magazine.. I would never have got into Hot-Rods if it wasn't for Lowriders. Lowrider Magazine has feautured Heidi Van Horne, Carina Caliente and ton's of pin-up girls posing with Hot-rod's in there magazine, they don't give a **** about anyone's race! I challenge who ever hates Lowriders to pick one up, I guarantee you'll like it..Ralph Fuente's runs it know...

  15. Both those cars are fn gorgeous. trad. cust and low riders have crossed for years and yeah your rite!

Glad to see this thread re-appear, shame nearly all of the pictures are lost. Here's a shot of my '64 Olds which will get some Astros and Bellflowers this winter.
