Building a '67 Chevy swb stepside. Considering trying to insert a 6.0 late model (LQ4) engine and trans. Got a 2004 wreck located at a good price. Any tips, info? Are there any sources for the computer/harness besides Street & Performance? All info appreciated.

If you've got the whole wreck you can carefully take everything (computer. harness, etc. out and transplant it. It's a lot fo work but the drivetrain should wind up running just like it did in the doner vehicle.

I have also been looking into an EFI swap for my 52 F1. I've been doing research on the Dodge Hemi 5.7L.

From what I've read so far, Street and Performance is a reliable company. I've spoke to Mark several times about the hemi swap and am expecting their info dvd and catalogue any day. I've also met a guy who has their chip in a tuned port 350 and it runs well.

They are able to program the chip if you give them the tire diameter and rear gear ratio. I believe you can even buy a standalone engine management computer for them as well, so you might not even need street and performance stuff.

The LS1 has been done by quite a few people, so try and find someone who has done it to tell you about it. I doubt anyone on here has an LS1 in their car.

Another thing to note if you're buying a wreck, you can still sell what you don't use from it. I've been told a hemi ram would be $5k and I could sell it for $2k after pulling what I needed.

    *sigh*

    Newbs... when will they learn.

A $50 305 out of a 85 Caprice with early 'chevrolet' script valve covers and a beer can with a sponge in it for a breather is still cooler than ANY FI motor.

  7. I agree its not trad ......

    BUT as a fellow HAMBER.....
If you are going to buy an EFI harness from -RON FRANCIS-be sure to ask what stage of assembly or completion ,it will arrive in.:(

Ask to see a pic of a ready to ship one before you buy it.
I only say that because I purchased a harness for a Ford EFI a few years back and I recieved a large box with a book of instructions and
!!!!!--57--!!!!!!SEPERATE ROLLS OF SINGLE WIRE numbered 1thru 57 as to prospective location.......for me to assemble a harness -MYSELF- from.
Now they may call that a harness -but for $580.00 ........I do not.

  8. Hey Chop,

I would have sent him a cheque in peices numbered 1 thru 57.

Seeing as this is a traditionally flavored message board.

www.ls1tech.com is your absolute best bet.

    Look under "Conversions and Hybrids".
