Is there a certain type of lug nut for a 36 Ford wire? I tried some normal conical nuts and they dont seem to cover the are very wheel around the opening.

'36 wires???? I think you mean '35's. '47 Ford nuts work. Well-used wheels might have enlarged holes. I don't know what you'd do then. Weld 'em up, maybe?

must be 35's..36 is wide five..just for info

  5. Ford used the same lug nuts from '28 until they went metric. The problem is that the lug holes on old Ford wire wheels are often wallowed out.

You probably need some support rings so the wheels will tighten down right. Please PM me as I have some for sale.

  7. Try over sized stock lug nuts stock car suppliers like Speedway sells. They take a larger socket because they have more material on the taper and should help with worn holes in the centers.

There are washers available. I bought some from 'Old Ford Parts' in Campbell Ca.

  9. FWIW, most '36s came with wide five wheels but a handful of very early '36s had '35 hubs and wheels.
