Feb. is kind of a slow month for me at work so I played hookie for a few days and sat around the house and goofed off. I got kind of bored stroking myself to the discovery channel so I thought I would go out and create some of my own reality. I cut up this 59 Lincoln that yngrodder and I got from scoob last weekend. We almost killed my dog in the process. He decided to run under the car as it was coming off the trailer. There wasn't much room under the car for a 120 pound dog. He got kind of squashed and lost some hair off his head. He limped around for a couple of days, but when he chased my truck down the road, I figured he was OK and didn't need to go to the vet. Only one of my dogs could manage to get run over by a car that doesn't even run. This was actually the second time for this dog.
When I ran out of daylight I decided to strip the lunar lander down and work on the frame. I finish welded the frame and put sleeves in the frame rails and wishbones where the bolts went through. I also gusseted the shit out of all the points where the frame bent just in case. This frame started as 2 12 foot chunks of 2X4 square tube.
That Monster garage episode got a lot of people riled up to build a "Rat Rod" I received several phone calls from people who would normally not talk to me wanting to buy something. Matt even got motivated enough to come out and do some work on the Tommi Gunn. Here is his frame z and an overall shot of the "project area"
Thanks for the updates. I'm hoping it'll look like that round my garage come the warm weather. I got a couple o'buddies that wanna build buckets, so we're gonna do em assembly line style. Should be cool. The one buddy (gotta get em on here) has a 327/Glide from his old Camaro, not sure bout the other one. You're an inspiration to lots, believe me. Jay
thanks for the update. It's gotta be one of the more interesting projects going on. So you have the wishbones mounted on top of the frame? How much does the frame kick up ahead of the bone mounts? Heh heh, I said "bone mounts" d
Nice work. How much of a "bow" do you have in the frame of the LL? Interesting way to drop the nose- I've never seen that done before.
That would be the famous Bob Bleed frame sweep. I took out 1/2 inch and it dropped the frame 5 or 6 inches. craig, You can bring the jar of pixie dust but I may have to pay you off in sexual favors. I will have a better grasp of my finances when I get there.
Damn that looks good! You gotta let me know next time you guys get together and I'll come over and lend a hand...or at least some beer
Hey Aaron, the chassie looks sweet, nice work!! love the driveshaft loops. Did you make them? Good to hear the dog ok, it would get lonely on them late night car jams
Where always doing something let us know when you want to come down. If I knew you where coming down a couple weeks ago to look at that roadster we could have hooked up then.
Can do Craig! Nads, my dog has a much cooler name, Enos. I have 2 others, Cletus and Cooter. Rosco got ran over by a Peterbuilt. The wishbones are mounted on top of the frame rails. It leans the axle back 7 degrees. Wildwilly, I am out in the garage 5 nights a week. This weekend I will be at the autorama though. Chad, that Lincoln was an ugly ass car. I got it just for the headlights but they were junk. The whole eyebrow was made out of bondo. I think I improved the looks of it immensely. It is probably squashed at the junkyard by now.
Yeah that was kind of a last minute deal. I gotta do something I'm going stir crazy around here with nothing to do
it looks like that lincoln's cousin is gonna get whacked later this week or early next week! i am gonna go pick it up wednesday or thursday. Depends on Scoob.
that lincoln is heavy It weighed in at the Junk Yard at 3880lbs after the engine was pulled top cut off and the trunk area and front end cut off of it.
