Hey folks, been a long time lurker and finally got a HAMB friendly vehicle so I decided to join the party. I've mostly been tinkering with old British bikes over the past years as I moved around a bit. Now that I have settled in back home in Indianapolis I spread the word out that I was in the market for an old car, specifically looking for a mid-early Sixties Comet, Falcon, Ranchero of F100. I'd not really considered much older cars because I figured it would be hard to find a decent driver in my price range. Well a local guy that is friends with my father told a couple folks he was thinking about selling his old Plymouth. My dad called me and we went to look at it and take it for a drive. I offered to buy it that day but had to wait a few while he talked it over with his wife. We drove it to my dad's and put in a new brake light switch to get those working and after a fresh 6v battery and oil change I drove it 30 miles back to my house last night without skipping a beat. The gentleman I bought it off of purchased it from his father in-laws estate in 1997. His father in law purchased it 1983 from a Mopar dealer in the Dunkirk, IN area. It appears to have been restored sometime before that. The picture with the blackwalls is when the previous owner pulled it out of his father in-laws pole parn. It's a really really clean pre-war car and the flathead 6 and 3 spd had no problems cruising 50mph all the way home. My plan is put some wide whites on it and maybe change up the wheel covers. No big overhaul or anything, just cruise and enjoy it.
