Ya, I lurked around a few times for about a year! Until I gave up the boobies I was playing with at the time (thank god, freedom and no more headaches), I decided to build a '27 roadster and become an Alliance Member. The best thing I've ever done! Like it was told to me by fellow members when I was a newbie; shut up or pay up and show us your ride! So true!
Yeah, I found the old cheater slick logo back then and thought it was so cool that I saved it. It's like art! I lurked a couple of years before I signed up too....
I lurked the JJ after I found the place through Marts real hotrods back in the cheater slick days. Couldnt figure out the message board and it was brootal on new guys, finally joined when some guys I knew were here, safety in numbers!
i still lurk here .dont think i measure up to the standards of these cars.still cant post pics dont know how
I would stop by often over a 2 or 3 month period,,,ya gotta remember,,,several years ago it wasn't the warm and fuzzy place it is now,,,, If someone didn't post an intro,,,the intro police showed up on your door step and your arse was in deep shit! I posted my intro and still caught hell,,,not that is was a bad intro,,,I even got a couple of PM's saying welcome,,,but not being computer savy and having never typed in my life,,,the cap lock was on,,,,!!! Hell, I didn't know the difference,,,cap lock was a bad thing? I didn't understand anything GERM said,,,but after a while I actually looked forward to another one of his outragious threads. Times have changed,,,but the hamb is best internet site out there! Thanks Ryan HRP
i read the thread about the 3x2 hemi 331 firepower intake, then decided to join. I posted an intro and returning back to lurking..
I was told about the now famous " Drag cars in motion.......picture thread." and that I should go see it and put up some of my pictures. So I did and signed up right away. I've been hanging around ever since then and put up some pictures from time to time. Cool site and some great memories found here. Thanks to everyone that contributes.
I was told of HAMB about 3 or 4 years ago while living in Arkansas....Moved and forgot about it until I heard some guys at work talking about the response from a question. Got the wife a MAC and joined right up but didn't post for a while....
I just can't lurk on forums... i can guarantee i wont read more than 5 threads before wanting to stick my big nose in and voice my opinions... And sometimes my opinions suck but fuck it... if you can't say what you think you may as well be a lurker! I do try and show respect to everybody that was already here though and i am greatful for all the knowledge that the knowledgeable share with us less experienced guys
Just a little curious here....How many members out of ten do you feel really have cars...Or is this question a totally different start to a new thread
Brian, I bet one would be amazed at the folks on here who only have the desire to own one and have nothing in thier garage or even have a garage.
I was a wannabe hot rodder for several years with no car project, no garage etc but my head was always buried in magazines and I joined the local hot rod club at age 13 and attended all the events. You can be a real hot rodder and not have a car. I have met plenty of people who have hot rods who I wouln't consider hot rodders too.
I joined right away. Was there a probational lurking period I failed to perform? Lurking=kinda like looking at a pretty girl and doing nothing about it Joining=kinda like goin after it, and "sticking the whiskers"
I didn't join right away because I didn't think I would have anything to contribute. Most of you guys seem to have "abilities far beyond those of mortal men"! I was happy lurking, learning and laughing while keeping my pile road worthy.
I lurked almost a year until I actually had a HAMB-friendly car. I figured I'd be flamed for sure if my only toy was a Monte Carlo. I still mostly keep my mouth shut and try to learn.
one look at the quality of folks and threads and i couldn't wait to get my name in the hamb. being an internet junkie for 10 years, i just got into the forum scene trying to get some tech advise for the ducati, never thought i needed much help putting cars together, but now i see the light. a priceless resource i wouldn't trade for anything. i love this place. new cars suck. put me down as a lifetime member.
