Holy crap, that's it! Why the hell are there two Falcon Grilles in the trunk of my Nova?

  3. Id say some one got a deal on them and they thought they were for a nova, or were told they were. to the casual eye they are pretty similar.

I had a '62 in Highschool with a 400 sbc. I blew the doors off several cars but never a grill. LOL. Good swap meet material though, someone will need or want them!

For a NOS grille. From what I see they not repopped anywhere. These are pretty nice grilles (not NOS), I'll post 'em up on the classifieds here first, rather a HAMBer gets them. I gotta come up with a price tag. Maybe I'll call a couple of ford parts houses.

Sorry to get off the grille debate, but you did order your wheels with the 4 lug 4 1/2 bolt circle?

Actually they arrived last night KoolKat. Got them from Summit with a set of groovy f70 redline bias ply tires. I found out quick my corvette flat center caps don't fit them. Now I have to find a center cap that fits the look of the Nova. Not too new (the corvette flat cap would have been questionable) and not too old.

As soon as the temp gets a bit warmer in the PNW I will give the rims a Roman Red base/clear coat.

Sorry, took a little nap at my desk there for a bit.
    I don't even like margarine.
There is not a lot of choices in the wheel world when working on a 4 on 4 and 1/2 wheel pattern. I don't want to add the expense of 5 lugging the Nova when it is a good driver the way it is. the 13 inch rims on the car are cute but not the look. 14" rims will fit fine and keep the original ideal, I tried to locate 14" OEM but that wasn't going to happen so I bought these Vintique jobs. They are smoothie, not rally.
    upload_2017-1-6_15-9-38.png
    and a set of these
    upload_2017-1-6_15-10-29.png
Lucky, that is a sick long roof but I can't really go pro touring on a 6 banger 3 on the tree, so I am keeping it old school with square shouldered tires. Damn cool wagon!
BigDog, they aren't rally's and they aint stock. Nothing seems to fit other than Vintiques caps unless I do some adapting. One guy on the interwebs drilled the wheel, added three button head bolts that he could adjust the depth of so he could use poverty caps since these wheel don't have nubs around the outside of the mounting ring.
    upload_2017-1-6_15-16-45.png
You can see they have internal nubs to fit the vintique caps. They have a ton to chose from or I can go that poverty cap method with a little work. Thoughts?
This is the cop cap they offer for this wheel.
    upload_2017-1-6_15-20-59.png
or this one is a bit older style, late 50's look
    upload_2017-1-6_15-22-50.png
or this one, a bit older
    upload_2017-1-6_15-33-4.png
I like the idea of a cap that predates the car for an authentic look. Red rims, redlines, poverty caps, should make the old Nova stand a bit taller.
Any body need a nice grille for a Falcon?

  16. Darn nice Chev II there, Billy! You aren't the 1st guy to gripe about Wheel Vintiques' cap non fittment. Red lines on a square '60s car are right on.

Thanks Chevydude! I guess they make more dollars on the accessories this way. You got a flavor of the week on those caps I posted?

  18. Yeah, how about the set of baby moons for Chevy rally wheels I have? Lol

It is tough, they are all the same price basically. The police cap will make the rims look deeper than they are. The belair style cap looks like something available in 62 to hop up your plain Jane. Thanks Pat

I stand as corrected. I was just looking at the bars which are similar to the 62's and not 63-up.

Can't hold it against you Jimmy, after all... I thought it was off a Nova initially o_O

Perhaps, just perhaps, there's a moral here. Chevy in a ford under the hood...ford in a Chevy under the trunk lid. Things that make you go hmmmmm.

Because you asked. I'm with Jim. I know it's late in the game maybe ? If you could return the new wheels if you have not mounted your tires on them I would suggest finding OEM wheels. That way you'll have all the GM options open to you which would include the correct era dog dish caps.

Jim, Johnny...I don't have ton of options with 4 lug 14" rims. I am leaning toward the police caps but I haven't pulled the trigger yet. It's too cold to spray the wheels right now anyway.

I promised pictures...and as DDDenny was kind enough to remind me I had not yet provided them so here are the 62 falcon grilles. Help me make them go away.

Here are the pics and descriptions of the 63 Falcon grilles

Here are the pics of Grille 1

No other damage noted on grille 1, this is top center

Other than that lower left mounting flange, grille 1 is a beauty. Some of the black still paint still on it, very straight and clean.

Grille 2 doesn't shine as much as grille 1 but other than needing some mild attention to the bottom grille bar it is very nice. Bottom bar just needs a little straitening by hand. A little dremel polish and it would stand tall.
