Lying to old ladies about my cars.

  1. You're a bunch of soft-hearted hoodlums, ain't ya? :)

  2. Years ago I had a '59 Corvette with an Offy mainfold and 6 97's on it. I drove with the hood off to show off my "all show/No go" 283. An old guy came into the gas station where I worked and wanted to know how I was able to put an Offenhauser head on a Chevrolet. I was unable to explain.

Well, I try for the younger women, our A+W is on the hiway thru town, cruise nite is Tuesdays, and often the tourists will stop. Twice now, I've been approached by couples wanting to know what my 36 is, so I offer rides. First her, then him, I swear the girls have an orgasm when the throttle gets touched hard, they come away with flushed faces, I do it because I like to share my passion with others, show them what the excitement is about, and that there are people who can build a car.
But the best was just last week, took a good looking fiftyish doll for a ride, she got all flushed and didn't want the ride to end. I wouldn't consider it, been married forty years, but it wouldn't have taken much to get her into the back seat, if I had one. My old girl is a pickup, her old man smiled lots too, I think a car is in their future. Life is good......

Similar story, but I was at a bike show with my 51 Panhead with a sidecar, and an older lady was standing there with a tear in her eye. I asked her if anything was wrong. She said no, she was remembering her youth. "I bet I have ridden 100,000 miles in one of those with my father" she said. Would you like to go for one more ride, I asked her? She said I better just remember things the way they were, with a laugh, and a smile.

Respect for your elders is something thatwill always hold true to me. Even though she wasn’t correct by damn you probably made her day with that one! I love the stories most of these older folks will tell. My grandfather was in the Navy during Vietnam though he didn’t actually end up overseas but still had some great stories to tell. It’s always a pleasure to meet Veterans though I’ve never actually met a WW2 Veteran but that would be the treat of a lifetime!

My grandfather talks about his yellow 58 he had in his youth. He always says that was the best $50 he had ever spent
