My buddy Dave is second generation at his family's carburetor rebuilding shop, Abel Auto in Baltimore. He has been going thru the archives there and came up with this stuff. We both have been looking on the internet for a real-world price for him to ask for it. And weather to sell it as is or try to do some restoration. It's no problem for him to rebuild the carbs and blast the intake but trying to restore the air cleaner and valve covers may be a little too tricky. He does not have the fuel pump or distributor. Any help would be appreciated. I might not get back to this computer until tonight. Thanks, Gene.
If he wants to sell it to a Mercury guy, then it might be best to leave it alone, and let the buyer have the pleasure of restoring it. I know I would rather buy something in "as is" condition, than having been "restored" by someone who may or may not know what they're doing. If he wants to make it look blingy and ask a lot of money for it, then don't worry too much about doing it right?
Squirrel is spot on. Don't touch it, and let the new owner restore it to the level they want. If they want to have your buddy's shop restore / repair the carb's give them that option. Typically Super Marauder air cleaners go for around $1500 alone, but it is a VERY SMALL market. Take what you can get and be happy with it.
