Just back home from a dizzying two days at Mac Van Pelt’s first ever Ford 3-speed transmission rebuilding class. I can’t say enough about this guy and his team (George and Will), not to mention his wife , Shelly. They are a class act all the way. What a host!!! So accommodating. So personable. So incredibly knowledgeable. The Van Pelt team’s attention to detail is absolutely astounding. I guess there were about 18 of us in the class from all over the country. He even bought us all lunch both days! Well worth the time and effort for this rare opportunity to learn from a master at his craft. I am forever grateful to Mac and his team!

  2. I have to agree, and I wasn't even there. I have bought from him for years. He's always been more than willing to talk to me when needed and then taken the conversation forward with a few questions as well as information to make sure I actually knew what I was doing and not headed into the next little issue needing to come back. What a Gentleman and an outstanding source.

My friend in Texas has done business with VanPelt over the years. Told me he is a very knowledgeable about early Ford trans and is very nice and honest and a pleasure to deal with.It is refreshing to actually hear gr8 things about suppliers and their “down to earth” habits and willingness to solve problems. Good job Mr. VanPelt!! IMG_1601.jpeg

I've only met Mac once. We were staying at the same motel in Ocala, Florida for the Billetproof meet. And as a matter of fact, he bought us lunch. A real gentleman. Don't know how many know, his wife Shelly was the driving force of the Ford Barn before it became part of the Jalopy Journal family. Great Lady.

My phone and e mail experiences with Mac Van Pelt have always been excellent. He knows his stuff and is always willing to help a hobbyist work his way through the repair process. I highly recommend his transmission rebuilding book too.

I’ve spoken to him twice on the phone. Sincerely wants to help/educate others. Pretty well steered me away from LZ gears for my application. I’ll have to call again as I’ve forgotten much of what he told me...LOL

Thank you all for the very kind words. This class could not have happened without the help from my good friends/helpmates Will Kimble and George Elbel. There were many hours of preparation to get everything ready, and for us, it was a fun-filled blur of activity. I can tell you that I slept like a rock the last two nights. The shop is almost back in operating mode. My good friend, Jack Stuard, took hundreds of photos during the two days, and we’ll have a link to them posted this weekend. Plenty of photos are popping up from the attendees too, so everyone can enjoy a glimpse of what they experienced. Here is the link for our photos:

So how often do you put these classes on Mac? I'm interested.

    Mac- thanks for the opportunity.
I had to leave a bit early Thursday because of some work obligations, but the class was awesome.
You’re too generous. It was much appreciated.

Honestly, I’m not sure how you were able to set aside that much time to teach people for free.
To you Will and George -thank you
