Can anyone recommend a machine shop on Long Island, NY. I've got a 283 that I'm going to use in a project, I need the bare block done. Not building a race motor, but I am spending a few bucks on a cam and heads, so I think it would be best to start with a machined core. Preferably in Suffolk county, the further east the better. Thanks in advance.

Ace Crankshaft in Deer Park on Brook Ave. (631) 243-3631. Guys name is Bobby and he does really good work. His shop is the real deal. Not a fly by night. Great equipment and knowledge and fair pricing. I have only had limited experience with him, but close friends have used him a lot and love his work. He does a lot of high performance stuff too as well as your standard machining work. You can tell him that Bob Orr (my friend) sent you to him. However, the last time I told him that, he had to think for a minute before the light bulb of recognition came on. He knows people by the car they are driving. Bob has an OT late model Caprice street legal drag car that Bobby built the motor for. The thing friggin' SCREAMS. You will not be disappointed.
