I started out as a mold designer, then got into setting up and programming cnc's. I have worked with just about any type of maaterial, worst thing I ever machined was inconel, that shit is terrible to machine. Couldn't stand the automotive rat race any more so I started building guns:)

burl, I figured out how to do it. What do you want to call it? All the other's have kind of off beat names.

    How about:

    The Machinist Group
    The Chip Makers Club

Can you think of any other name that's better?

    I'm in.

I dig The Chip Makers as a name.

Fits the process. I don't know about you all, but I've got a lot of little 6 and 9 shaped burns on my forearms and hands. Them little blue colored chips seem to stick and cook where they land. ;)

Also most suppliers have the ends of stock painted so they can quickly identify the material as well as the material handlers in the shop. Medium blue = 6061-T6 Black=7075-T6 etc. So look for any paint on the ends if they have not been cut off.

  10. I've seen the blue paint, didn't know what it was.

    Good info, thanks.

Them hot chips feel especially good down a T-shirt.

Even better, at the end of the cut where you gotta stand there and take it.
