I was just wondering if anyone had used sheetmetal from Mac's auto reseration? Let me know of if there is a better place to get floor pans from!
I've bought a few items from them and all have been quite good in quality. I need to replace a rear quarter panel and have wondered myself how those pieces are in fit and quality. I'll be interested in finding out.
Thanks for the info. I've got the lower rear 1/4 patch panles that I think are from EMS and they fit real well. but Idon't think they sell floor pans.
Mac's body panels worked for my '56, good quality. It was a year or so ago but if I recollect, the panels were retagged with Mac's #s on them, some were either Schott or EMS. I checked prices, they were all about the same. So to save shipping $$$ I ordered what I needed from Macs. Here's the link to Mac's online catalog: http://macsautoparts.com/ I bought floor and rocker panels from a local guy in the Detroit area. Again, good quality. Had to make a few minor mods but I didn't get the diestamped panels (just building a driver, not a numbers correct show car) and they worked fine. Price was about the same as Mac's but the guy was local so I picked them up, again saving shipping $$$. I put up some pics in my album this weekend to show 'before and after' on the body work.
Thanks for the info raceron1120 I'm always getting those emails from Mac's so maybe that'll be the way I will go! How are they as far as ordering and shipping?, I've delt with like LMC truck and it's always been kind of a pain in the ***!
I have bought a lot of stuff from Mac's including floor pan. Their shipping has always been prompt and reliable. Highly recommend
re: Shipping from Mac's? Always good, and cost is no more than anyone else. I think for a couple extra $$$ they'll make sure the stuff gets shipped within one business day of receiving the order. Example - I ordered ball joints from them late Tuesday. They confirmed in stock and would ship Wednesay. UPS just pulled in with them about an hour ago. Shipping was something like $9.00. Not bad, 2 business days NY to MI. For out of stock stuff they will call or e-mail asking to ship or cancel before they ship partial orders. Some items ship from their vendors & takes a bit longer (interior trim, etc.) They'll offer some pretty good online specials every once it awhile too; I order critical stuff as needed but wait for their monthly specials for the "fluff" (non-critical items).
I bought and installed the macs floorpans in my 53. They worked pretty good but I still had to make alot of my floors by hand since they did not offer a complete floor kit. I have bought a lot of stuff from them over the last few years and I highly recommend them.
I bought floor pans for my Courier. They were very poor, looked like they were hamered out in someones garage. I did not use them..
Never got anything from Mac's but there's a place in Akron, OH called Surplus Supply co. I'm sure they have a web site, just goggle it. OH, I've never got anything from Surplus Supply either. I'm waiting for someone to come up with some less expensive panels
There is a seller on ebay with good prices some of the guys on 1954ford.com used them and were happy with them, rustyfords may remember some of the posts from there.
I used macs rear 1/4's in wifeys ranchwagon and was happy with how they worked out. Made my own fllorpans and rockers (inners and outers) - did it this way to try to save on shipping 1/2 way round the globe! pics in my album if you need to see .
I am in the middle of installing the Mac's floors in my '56. I think now there are two options, one die stamped (= more expensive) and one not (= cheap!). I have the cheap ones and they are wavy and crudely stamped. You get what you pay for...
Surplus Supply makes the nicest floor pans on the market. www.surplussupply.com If your looking for outer rockers or the panel between the taillights, EMS makes super nice stuff.
I used their quarter patch panels on my car and they fit very nice. The normal little bit of t******* to fit and such but very good quality for the money.
