I just ordered brake drums for my 54 so that I can complete the adjusting brake conversion that JeffB told me about. I have heard that MAC's takes a long time to get the merchandise shipped but I am wondering if this is just a rumor or true?

I've always got my stuff pretty quickly from them. Only thing that ****s is that they are on the other side of the map.

Yeah, you can add $4 to the order and expedite shipping if you're in a real hurry. Usually gets to you the same time as it would without expediting.

I used the free shipping quote because of the price for what I bought but then I did add the additional cost for the expedited shipping too. Its just brake drums but I do want it to get here pretty fast. It seems that brakes are pretty important to the driving and stopping thing.

I guess they're like anybody else, it just depends on who you talk to. I spent a lot of $$$ with Mac's on the '56, had to call 'em a couple times regarding some items and they did fine with resolving the issues. Tech support seemed knowledgable.

Quality of some items was questionable but I think they get it from the same Chinese or other offshore supplier(s) that most places do.

I have ordered from MAC's many , many times and never had a problem with them at all . Same with Speedway that people say they have problems will too . maybe I am just plain lucky when it comes to ordering parts .

I ordered from Mac's last week and it took them an entire week to send the order out. Estimated arrival date for my stuff is still a week out because I'm on the west coast.

Well, I'm probably going to be a little upset with them then. I live in San Diego so thats West Coast, and I've had a few times with other places that I waited a while for parts. I waited almost a month for my radiator to get here. Some parts that I ordered from a place less than 100 miles from me took more than two weeks. I'm still waiting on radiator hoses from Cool-Flex, but I don't expect them to ever come since its been four months already.

Don't waste your time, call Dennis Carpenter. If Carpenter doesn't have it where would Mac's get it.

Unfortunately, the first thing I did was look at my Dennis Carpenter catalog and I didn't see any brake drums. Ultimately it was MAC's that i had to choose because they were the only ones that I could find with both front and rear drums.
I received an email from MAC's today that said all items were shipped today and the UPS tracking number helped me confirm the parts are on the way. Five more business days and I will have all the parts.

Anytime you order parts from the east coast area and need to go to zone 5 , California , it usually takes a least 5 days to get something . Don't understand why but that's the damn postal system !
Good Luck with your brake system rebuild !

Thanks Jim. I'm sure that things will work out great. If I don't get all the parts in time to replace the brakes before the Ink N Iron show, I will just pray as I go down the road. I'm not willing to miss the show sine it will be the first time that the Helldivers will have all our cars displayed at a show. I know silly reason but I'd rather drive it than watch it sit.

Are you suggesting that I take one with me? I'm not sure that CHP would like me dragging an anchor, but that would be pretty funny and a great kodak moment.
