After checking out Hamber buggy5872's build thread on his crewcab LCF,I was all fired up to get started on my pile of parts.First job I managed to get done this afternoon was drag the 95 dually out of its parking spot and proceed to take the bed off.

No bed and and ****ty backround view:D
    [IMG]

Then disconnect the cab and lift that ***embly off the frame.

    Leaving a completely Nekid frame

Next job is test fitting the 58 cab onto its new frame and figuring out ride height body to ch***is relation and all that.

Looks like a great start to a cool project! The back ground is pretty nice too.

Who is not inspired by buggy5872's "Big Bertha"? Are you thinking of making it a Crew cab aswell?
Keep working on it at your current speed and you might complete it faster than Buggy5872 did his.
    Will be following this Build.

I kinda work on my stuff in fits and starts all the bits to do the crewcab conversion are in hand,3 extra pairs of doors,an extra cab,a suburban roof,an extra 2 ton frame to pull cab mounts off.
Going with common rail ***mins 5.9 diesel for power, its sitting in the garage waiting already.
The red one is for this project, the metallic orange ***mins on the left is the new twin turbo 6.7 for our new off topic dry lakes racing diesel truck:D

The motor will be mounted halfway under the rear of the cab,I have a large radiator and intercooler from a freightliner ch***is to put up front.
alcoa 22.5 rims will probably find there way onto the truck.
Some parts of the conversion are still undecided....in my head!!

I'm so green with envy. That Cat would make my bed project so much easier. I have to lift it with an engine hoist and scaffolding inside a tiny garage...

Got after it this afternoon with mocking up the cab on the ch***is,it took a few goes with different blocking to achieve the desired ride height.
Dangling the cab over the frame.

Finally its on the frame blocked correctly centered on the frame and wheels centered in the wheel openings. The little 16 inch rims and tires look a bit goofy, the 22.5 alcoa wheels will look way better

I'm going to use a 48re dodge automatic ****** with some upgraded parts inside it.
My work truck has the 5.9 common rail with the 48re behind it,works great towing 10,000lbs on a regular basis.

OK, I know nothing about that gearbox as we do not see them here in AU. With my 6BT ***mins I used a Ford C6 kitted out with a full manual shift kit and added a US gear overdrive.

That loader must be making the job easier.

That loader and unlimited cieling height is nice. View is not half bad either. If you need any pointers on making that cab I am here for you. I'll pm you my number. Engine in the rear? Under back seat I presume? I have a sugestion for you. Make your engine and ****** crossmember bolt to the bottom of the frame. I just change the 350 in mine to a 454 and slid everything out the bottom. It was really easy since my crossmembers were bolted on like that. Now to figure out all this wiring.....

HOTFR8-The 48re ****** is basically a computer controlled 727 dodge 3 speed with an overdive on the back of it they are used in 03-07 dodge HD trucks.
Buggy5872-great idea on the driveline crossmembers, shouldn't be any more work at this stage.
Good luck with the 454 wiring!

Sad to say but a chap came to my house to buy a 58 longbed GMC,saw the 58 lcf cab and had to have it,offered me too much money for it,so the cab has gone.I still have the frame though.
This is what I picked up instead.still have to fetch it from Arizona.
Trying to figure out how many deluxe cab big back window 1955 low cab forwards were built, anyone have production numbers?

Probably not many. As far as the LCF trucks go...1955 is a 1 year only cab and front fenders. 1956-57 were the same and 1958-59 were the same. What are the plans for this one? Looks like it is a motor away from being a runner.
