Made my day today

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Special Sam, Feb 26, 2011.

  1. Thought I had lost these pictures 15 years ago. My daughter found them today. Here's my old 53 Merc that my dumb*** sold for $600 and my 62 Chevy that my dumb*** sold for $1000 around 1990 or 91. God I wish I had them back now, especially the Merc because my father bought it new and gave it to me in 1971. The Merc had had more than $600 spent on rebuilding the original engine alone. City said I had to tag and insure it or get rid of it. Didn't know at the time that I was allowed to have one untagged vehicle for restoration purposes. Will never fall for that ******** again. My daughter also found the picture of my father's service station and grocery circa 1949. If someone could turn these into jpeg files it would be much appreciated.

Cool photos. Where was that service station? With the exception of the two bays, it looks just like an old Esso station in Denton, NC.

  7. The station was located on Rockford St. across the street from Scenic Ford in Mount Airy, North Carolina.
