Don't they have metal supply houses in your town with square tubing? Go down and buy some if you wanna do this. Just a thought.

 

Little timeframe setback on the project....too busy , thanks for the reference ...eBay has the clamps...they are call **** welding clamps....

 

If you're looking for stock to brace it before cutting the roof off, go to Home Depot (or a similar place)
and buy 1/2 " or 5/8" concrete reinforcement rod ( "re-rod"). It welds excellent after you clean it up, costs about $7 bucks. for 10 feet, and can be used over and over.

 

hey hey , great idea , thinking I can go to metal s**** yard....been scratchin my head on this chop and glad I had delays , figured out a better way to do it since I also want to take some crown out of the roof ..2 inches in front and 3 0r 4 out back...did this on a 36 buick years back...it gave the roof a more racy profile...gotta dig out the pics of the buick.....

 

While I'm in limbo on the chop , I've been collecting parts....**** weld clamps , n.o.s RAC tri gauges ( anyone know what year these are from ) , tail lights , getting argon and steel tubing next week...always liked a smooth dash , no speedo , that's what tachs are for....

While you are chopping, take the hump out of the back of the roof and make it flow

 

madillac is going into storage for now....
I renovate homes and condos..just got a full condo rehab and am short on labor....geeez. Looks like October or December....appreciate all the feedback......I'll just keep collecting parts and such...priorities....

 

Waiting for tow buddy...besides I like the cooler weather .i could make those clamps...take a week , .next time you buy **** from China ..I'm sending the Hamb police to cuff your ***es......bought 16 on evil bay for 29 bucks...made in China ville..even Eastwood sells the China stuff...oh well..do your best..
