Thanks novadude. No, it's not an L79 car. It was a 250 horse 327 with a glide, but it now sports a pretty stout 350 and TH350.

  2. Slot mags are still dirt cheap.

Bought four last Monday, $12.50 each.
Bought a few by pairs for $5. each.
The 10" x 15" ones will set you back up to $100. a pair.
Although, you can find them now and then considerably cheaper.
Look at Ford vans with slots, many times they have the desirable 8" x 15" and sometimes the 10" x 15".

If you can handle a 10" wide or 8" wide 14" wheel they're dirt cheap cuz nobody wants them.
My pal ended up giving a couple of 10" wide ones away a few weeks back.

    Here's a 10" x 15" with 32 re-pro cap adapted.

Here's a recent find, $20. each for two.

They should clean up like new.

Another view of the narrow mag.

It's getting set up for the 32 cap adapter.

How did you clean up that wheel? It looks llike it was all pitted.

  4. You mean the top wheel w/cap?

I bought a pair of them, brand new in 1985 and have taken good care of them.
    They are as they came.
That scratch on the rim was from a careless tire guy.

If you're talking about the skinny mags, they are as purchased and I'm gonna finish the machine work before I do any cleanup or polishing.

I have another set of 10" x 15" wheels that were excellent and the Walmart tire guy put it in the machine upside down and made a small gouge in three places equidistant around the wheel on the front area that's exposed.

    C9 = zero
Walmart = three (two stripped oil pan plugs and one pair of screwed up mag wheels.)

Anyhoo, here's a pic of a pair of 7" x 15" I cleaned up and polished, but didn't get overly carried away on.
    An after and before pic.

I ran them for a short while on the 32, but with about 4" backspace they sat in too close to the body to look right.

Don't be fooled by what looks like an overly wide tire on the 32's front wheel.
    Camera angle etc.
I know better, but forgot to use the telephoto etc.

This wheel is a 5 1/2 x 14" and was polished at a chrome plating shop.

There may be some 5 1/2" x 15" kicking around, but so far I haven't seen any.

The 5 1/2" x 14" are out there, but I've only found one more.
It'll probably end up as a spare on the 31 since I have lots of trunk room in it

A great many of the slot mags have the manufacturers name cast in on the inside along with what size they are.
Kinda weird on the set of four I bought last week, they are 6 7/8" x 15".
A touch oxidized and dirty, but not banged up so they should clean up ok.

They look a lot like the 'before' wheel picture above as far as what they look like now.

Go over to Roadsters.com and look for his wheel polishing article.
Amazing what you can do with some time and determination.

Sure, just get yourself some new American TTO's and paint the spokes black, or any color you want. That's how they used to do it back in the 60's.

    TTO's sounds like the ticket.
But 15x5 looks like the skinniest they make now.
how does a 5.00X15 bias look an a 5" rim?

The TTO's in 7 inch wide and UNDER look good but the 8 inch wide have the tire mounting groove (that recess inside the wheel to help mount the other bead, you know...) pushed towards the outer edge of the wheel and it makes the spokes look crowded and it is just looks wrong!

First pic TTO 15x8 with wierd recess from Am. Racing website
Second pic A real original TT better looking deeper recess from Roadsters.com

I just got a set of TTO's in 15x5 and they look like they won't blow out the sidewall too much on a skinny tire. Of course I haven't mounted a tire on them yet!!:)

  12. Yeah, but slots are easier to find and way less $$.

Not to mention I can pick one up without a hoist....

  13. Dunno if this helps, but here's a 5" x 15" steelie with a bias looking 165R/80-15 radial, 4 ½" tread width and 25" tall.

Same wheels and tires on the 32.

I like the look of the tto's. Word of caution: I put a set on my 70 vette, looks great, but made in china, needed a ton of weight to balance

The Real Rodder's Wheels are cool as heck. Plus they have t-shirts I did the art for so you know they're cool too(hehee). The wheels are not inexpensive (I'm still recovering), but like the name implies, they are the real deal, still made in the USA and have the legit look!

Frankie, please send my endor*****t check soon!

We've got a pair of these ET's. 15x10 though. You're looking for the deep barrel 15 inch wide jobbies (yikes)? If you want 10 inchers, PM me....

    Chevy bolt pattern too.

Yeah, don't it **** balls!!?? I scrounged for my 5 spokes too but only because they weren't available at the time. I ended up with Fenten Hustler 15x8 on the rear and real American 14x6 on the front. Had em polished and I love them. Of course most people can't tell them apart from the TT2's, but I can and that's all that matters....;):D

those rears are the stuff.....that straight barrel is what makes those wheels look that them look so *****in... nice car too with the hot rod rake...:D brandon

  30. Fronts are Crestlines, rears are Ansens. I think you could get close to this with wheels currently available. Fronts would be 5" wide.
