This is an old post but I agree with Marty McF. Why didn't American Racing copy the outer lip EXACTLY as it was? I do not like the new 8.5's or 10's. Why isn't there OUTRAGE over this?

IMO, the ET Cl***ic fives actually look a little closer to the old americans than the current TTO's, although they are not quite exact either.

If you like 5 spokes, check out ET's 15"X4" Vintage wheels, they're beautiful! They're almost a duplicate of my 15"X4" American magnesium ones but prettier. I'm surprised that people aren't jumping on these - $400 a piece. A lot cheaper than $1,800 - $2,400 a pair at swap meets...:( They also have a 16"X10" rear to match. Check out their site.

Team3 ET Dragmasters. He wouldn't polish the edge of the ridges like the one in the ad though but their still nice wheels.

Old style 5 spoke American Mags...not ETs, salt flats, Radirs, etc...Ok, NICE Nova though...Yes, some ETs do resemble the older style Americans but not exactly. The ET's have a 90* angle on the inner lip. I think the new American's have 2 -90* angles. And, I should clarify further, the 8.5's and 10's are what I find objectionable. The 7's and 6's look good enough for me not to complain about. Do you think it was an engineering design for safety?

Vaphead, what size ET rims on the back of the ch***is?

These aren't exactly new, but they aren't impossible to find. I'm saving them for an upcoming project. They show up on E-bay every once in a while. These are 15x10 ET's made back in the early 70's. They're aluminum so they stay polished, and they're one piece cast with a straight spoke. Until the new ET 16x10's came out, there wasn't a one piece cast straight spoke available. Still isn't a 15x10. The Torq Thrust D's don't look too bad in a 15x10, but I still prefer the straight spoke.

Man, can it get any better than this? A cool rod with an awesome stance, a surfboard on the roof, palm trees and the surf. Beautiful.

Yep, I'll second that. Not remotely close to what I'm asking for. The 10" ET's in 300racr looks good but it still ain't the American's. ET has it's own flavor and I like it but I'm asking about the original 8.5's - 10"s American's. WHY could they not duplicate it EXACTLY??? Sorry to pound the **** out of this but when Brookville duplicated the 32 Ford did they deviate from the original (they may have but my limited knowledege of 32's can't tell) and would it have been accepted it they did?

The 8.5 - 10 inch American's do not look like they did eventhough they (?) claim it's been reproduced. Does anyone else have this "issue" or do I have O.C.D.?

These are probably the closest thing you'll find to an early AR Torq Thrust. They're made by Vintage Wheel Works. They don't make a 15x10, but they do make a 15x7 & 15x8 as well as a 15x4 in each of these styles. The V-40 has a straight spoke and the V-45 has a D spoke. Here's their web site.

    WillysRule,
Yes, I agree. These are the closest I've seen in a modern wheel. These will be on my short list if I need modern wheels.

    Thnx.

    What can't American do this....****...here I go again...stop me.....

I'm very impressed with the new Crager SS 390 street pro. The chrome is amazing and the look is spot on.
To me, aluminum always seems rather dull and they forever need polishing.
I'll take chrome over aluminum any day.

I really like the new E-T Vintage V 15 x 4 wheels. The round spoke with the wider base very much resembles the narrow magnesium Torq Thrust and Crestline 15 x 4. About the best vintage appearing newly produced front wheel. No, they don't have the exact vintage characteristics but damn close for new.
