I've read R&C from back in the 60"s and still have every issue I've bought. Sure there have been low times (relatively speaking) but even those times have been better that when the mag was GONE. I guess I'll never understand what we are supposed to get for our dollar (about what it cost with a sub) but to me once a month getting a car related magazine delivered to my door that is guaranteed to entertain me for at least a couple of hours (even if it's got a couple of cars I don't like) is the bargin to beat them all. I still maintain that if you get just ONE thing out of eash issue that pleases you it's money well spent. Just an idea, a picture, a concept, it worth more than that beer you buy for the same money only to piss it down the drain an hour later. I'm just a 61 year old "has been" so what do I know. I'll tell you this, the younger generation hasn't a clue about how good they've got it but it will take another 30 years or so for them to finally dig their head out of their ***. I can hear it now, "man, I wish it was like the good old days back in 2005, yea, thats when things were really cool". GIVE ME A BREAK!!

Jim A, some of these responses have been spot on. I see Jimmy White's point. Now Chili Phil thinks you're funny.

the reason you "bother" is because you wouldnt have it anyother way. long before you worked for R&C and before you worked for goodguys(or was it street scene?) and before that when you were a freelancer, you brought it upon YOURSELF,always quick on the draw.i dont recall Rizo or Scribe or any one else from R&C (or any other mag for that matter) ever getting as defensive as you do.its almost funny to read your post since its always going to be a soap opera.

weither you like it or not you are now a PUBLIC persona, just like howard stern, micheal jackson, nick and jessica and paris hilton. "WE" are free to critize you all we want!

.also,i must say ,i did feel my words may have been a lil harsh,so when i arrived at home i dug the latest issue out of the trash can and flipped through it again.

yes, gerorge poteets 40 pick up is pretty cool along with the 53 merc hardtop.
so ,i guess i can see what all the excitement is about!

I've never done this before and I hope I never have to again, but I have to tell you Turd, you are a major ***hole. You're an over-opinionated twit newbie. You say 'WE', but you are not a 'WE'. Hell I'm not even a 'WE'. I've only been here since March. I'm just glad 'THEY' let me stay here. You need to get a life. Jim doesn't own the mag, cut him some slack. I LIKE R&C.

To some it's just a job- I happen to be p***ionate about it- you think it's funny that I get stirred up- no problem. We try really hard EVERY day to make it the best possible magazine we can. If it was just a job and I didn't care about blanket rips it would make life SOOOO much easier. I know I've always enjoyed reading from people who were equally p***ionate about the topic rather than the "just a job" folks that don't care if they call a '33 a '34, a '35 a '38 and repeatedly mention "36 Ford wires". I loose interest REALLY fast and can tell a "just a job" writer from one that lives and loves cars. They also disappear just as quietly as the came and move along on to "just another job". Ask a few of them where there hot rods are and you will get "hey, that was just a job- I'm writng about BMW's now"- That will never be me- when I do someday have "just a job" there will always be a hot rod in my garage.

I never said personal attacks bother me- I invite them as there's always something to learn from them. But just like the guy that shot Tom Cruise (a public figure) in the face with a squirt gun I too am not insulated from calling a jerk a jerk.

    OK...........

    I will speak up..... :D

    The magazine was the PITS
For quite some time.......and I kept my subscription
I just got the NOTICE today that I just got my next to the last issue on my current subscription.......

Because of you.....JimA.......I sent the check in for a renewal.....
It ain't perfect ( the magazine ) but I understand that R&C cannot be ALL 1932 Fords...... :D

There's a rumor going around that Ford made other cars besides 1932 Fords....

Hey, 'Burgler, you have a lot of opinions. Good. Here's your ***ignment from ol' Chili Phil:

Take a digital camera to a local race, rod run, shop, burger joint cruise or what have you. Shoot some pics and write up a little report of what you saw, what you liked, what didn't turn your propeller and let's see what you can do. Hell, if you're really good, there is a new career just waiting for you. If you have the right stuff, I'll put in a kind word to my pal, Jim A, and see if he can use anything you have. There are lots of editors who lurk here, maybe you've got what it takes. Give it a shot Mr Turdburgler.

Uh, I suggest you start with aquainting yourself with the spellcheck function on your word processing program. The publications that eschew spelling and syntax tend to not have staying power.

Best of luck, Cub Reporter, I look forward to your next installment.

that'll never happen,i'm not in the right "clique" and i dont kiss ANYBODYS *** to get in those cliques. haha, everyone in the know knows, thats how it works.

not looking for anyones aproval on my opinions as to some "car show" or "some car i saw",that's the "magazine" guys job! lol!

to either get a job, your car, your product or car show in a mag you have to **** UP to a magazine guy, other wise forget it! hahaha, the way its always been.

,boy, you guys sure do know how to make things so technical!

seriously,if you enjoy sitting down, flipping through the latest R&C WITHOUT reading all the ads and can look at the entire mag and feel saitsfied with that then me and you brotha are on different levels.

good luck and god bless you!
