I get plastic envelopes from 2 Buds, a comic book supplier. I use one for each mag and they come in different sizes for different magazines. I put a white label in the lower corner so when they are stacked on edge in legal filing boxes (like Groucho's white boxes) I can see the issue info. I usually have them stacked tightly in the boxes so they don't have room to bend or fall over. I have probably 15 legal boxes full of old mags, and need another 15 for mags I haven't sorted yet. The boxes and envelopes can get expensive, but we have to protect our "investment".
i was just put in contact with a manufacturer of archival quality page protectors!! apparently they can make me some 8.5" x 5.5" clear pages and i can find binders to match...im going to try to get a sample and see if they'll fit alright I'm going to call them when i get off work and figure out the details on pricing and whatnot to see if its worth while is this something other people on here would be interested in? im thinking that I'll end up having to buy a bulk of the pages then maybe i can buy a bulk of binders and label them and sell them on here to whoever is interested? seems this might be the best solution...you can easily stand the binders on edge on a book shelf with the ends labeled...flip through them to see the magazine you want....then just pull that one out without damage to the other magazines? i'll keep everyone up to date if there is interest Zach
I use the plastic "milk crates" that you get at office max/staples that people use for filing crates. I get the filing folders with the hangers on the edges and store one year of most sizes in one folder. Seems to work pretty good.
