I don't think the failure of this has anything to do with political redirection of funds. Afterall this was only a cartoon created by people most likely without engineering backgrounds. They were simply creative people coming up with ideas that they thought would be cool to see. This was simply unrealistic and the typical result of designers trying to do an engineers job. The same thing still happens today.

Is this a Luigi Colani design? In accord with the sentiments of many on this thread, one of his books I have is called "For a Brighter Tomorrow"

How come I didn't see any state troopers with automatic licence plate scanners keeping everybody $afe?

  7. I see they were all living in bubbles of some type or other. That's become a pattern. Distance from nature.

  8. Mate there's solar races here each year & those things haul along @ sumthin' like 80 mph for hours on end. Straight thru the middle of Oz, N-S, Darwin to Adelaide. Every year faster, further.
I went to check 'em out once as the winner crossed the finish line.
Apart from being a beautiful car ( Honda racer ) what impressed me was that only sound was a faint gear whir & the sound of little stones under the tyres. As this was happening a gaudy street machine with a tunnel ram struggled by, all effort & noise. I'll never forget it- the contrast was glaring.

I believe it is. Here's more you find when you google his name. He's been at it a while, I guess. The Jetsons must have had a real impact on him. He has designed cars, planes, helicopters, furniture, houses, you name it. All of it looks pretty space aged.

I just checked and the book was copyrighted in 1981. He was/is quite the prolific designer.
