that's tough; 50's or 60's is what I think it comes down to. Run one set one month and switch them out the next!:D
Sweet car by the way- I don't think it looks cartoony at all.

Opinions are like assholes so here is another one. My priority list is the Hals first, the spoked mags second and the chromies third. This is from a LONG time lust for Halibrands. Now the exhaust. That exhaust is no better than Milner's and his wasn't even in the running. One of the things I hated about that car along with that retarded short grille. sell them to the first T bucket owner you find.
Continuing with our ripping of your really great car lets do the fenders. I've always hated abriviated rear fenders so my take would be off they go and either run with no fenders or a full set of stock fenders (rear could be bobbed about 4"-5").
In conclusion, it's your car and your the only one that has to be happy with it. If the decision is to leave it the way it is........ SUPER!!!

    Jim,

I think if you mounted the Radir slicks on the mag rims, that would be the cat's meow - IMHO.

    Cool ride!

I cast one more vote for the chrome steelies.

I like the Hals best (although it would certainly be easier to maintain the chromies), agree that the piecrust slicks would look good, would never put bobbed fenders on my car but they look great on yours. Ditto the headers.

    Very nice car!

I like it with any of the wheels. I would probably run either the Halibrand slots or the magnesium torq thrusts, but they would have to have the pie crusts. Great looking car.

I've got 4.5 sets of wheels and tires for my 2 old Fords. After a while I figured out which ones "belonged" on which car and I rarely change them anymore.

I'm feelin' the steelies. But I'd cough up a lung for those rear Hali's.

Chrome reverses this week.. but ask again next week. I could go either way. The Hal's would look better with pie crusts, and a bit of oxidation to them.

  20. chrome steelies, loose the exh pipes, add fenders to front tires, or loose both front and rear.

Either way, love the car....very clean

  21. I like the Hals... the chrome reverse wheels look like you're trying to make it at black primered Grafittii coupe.

I love the chrome steelies with no hubcaps. On a Saturday night I would put the Americans on the rear only.

I would love a ride just like this (but I would have to have Ford power).

It,s your car and therefore your choice.
You don,t have to please anyone but yourself.

  24. Keep'm both. Alternate when you feel like changing. Best of both worlds,IMO.

  25. I've always liked chrome steelies (oem style wheels) but Halibrands too....and then you go and throw in the 5 spokes?! Too many neat wheel choices! I guess you'll just have to mix and match. Five spokes on the front with steelies on the back......Halibrands on the front, steelies on the back......the possibilities are endless.....wish I had your problems. :D

yeah I'd say steel out back with pie crust and the slots up front would look killer and as for the 5 spoke fronts send them to me I have an Idea for my coupe that involves those and a stock model a spring up front with my steelies and radir slicks out back!Killer Coupe love that thing either way if its all or none go with the steelies

  27. With those headers, somehow the chrome steelies look better and everything matches pretty well. The polished halibrands look "too nice" somehow to fit in with the big picture. It looks more like it really means business with the chrome wheels -- like it's more go than show, and ready to race and haul ass. The Halibrands look too glamorous and make it look like it needs a paint job and some different headers and more chrome.

    Cool car though either way!

Wow! It looks totally different without the over the frame headers. I think I like it. Thanks for the photo work.

The fenders are there for a reason. When I bought the car it had goofy over size fiberglass rear fenders and huge steam roller tires. The rear had been "back halved". The frame is cut in front of the tire and a tube rear section was added with a ladder bar / coil over setup. They also cut the rear inner fenders to fit the tires. I found some ROUGH original steel fenders and cut them down "Grafitti style". They help hide the missing inner panels and ugly tube frame. You can kind of see what I'm talking about here:

Frank, I truely enjoy listening to others opinions since we often overlook things on our own cars. I always like reading your honest posts. I'm very happy overall with my cars (yes I'm a lucky guy) but I tend to pick the little things apart. What would you recommend for an exhaust? A chassis shorty header? A custom made over the frame header?

    Anyone else...

put a wider rear under it and go with less narrow chrome steelies

Both look good, but I lean toward chrome reverse
