Magnet on a gas tank??

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by HotRodHabit, Nov 25, 2009.

  1. I thought so too.
My solution is tape a piece of garden hose to the end of your va***e cleanerhose and put it on, worked fine and my tank was rust and dust free

  2. I agree with FlamedChevy, I have used red -kote on all my station wagon gas tanks and my old farm all tractor and haven't had a problem with rust since. Bruce.

Put the magnet inline with the fuel line that way it increases your gas mileage too!

Here's an experiment with red rust. Looks like a magnet would be worthwhile. but might need to be IN the tank.

GM put magnets in early 700R4 ****** pans - -they surely needed that magnet too.

Why not remove the tank and have it vatted?

Having rust sloshing around in my tank is the last thing I won't to worry about 300 miles from home. HRP

An oxide is typically less ferromagnetic than the base metal. The video beat me to it.

A cow magnet would be easy to use, they are about the size of a AA battery, might be hard to get it in the tank,it would want to stick the side of the tank before it got to the bottom of the tank where it would work. They use the magnets in the cows stomach,so when they eat gr*** or something that might have a nail or wire in it,it is supposed to catch it before it goes into the animal to far?A cow has 4 stomachs,it is a good idea, some of those cows are worth a million dollars, one at the farm next to me recently sold for that,it was a Holstein,a milk breed.
