We celebrated my birthday yesterday as we were waiting for all of the kids to be home. Everyone made it but my son. Maggie got me the best birthday present I have ever gotten. While we were in Cali for the GNRS show we were lucky enough to be able to tour Coop666's studio. While there I spotted an artist proof print that I fell in love with. It was pricey so I had to think about it for a bit. When we got home I told her that I was gonna buy it, she said "go for it". Here is where the Drama starts. I call Coop and tell him that I want one of those 5 Artist proofs. He tells me that that he and Ruth decided not to sell them as they have never kept any of his art for themselves. I, Like the dumb **** that I am, believed him. This is in January, so by yesterday that was just a distant memory and totally off the board. I never would have believed that she would buy this for me because of the price. So last night, I open my present from her and it is the Burbank Choppers book. I look at her and say, UH! Honey, you got me this book for xmas, well that's ok cause Mike at The Hot Rod Shop will trade if for something I don't have. I look up and everyone is grinning like hell. Just about then my youngest grandson Barrett hands me a large birthday wrapped shipping tube. Yeah, I was confused, upon opening it I discovered this. It is huge, 24 X 48, and the neatest part is that is done on real thick paper and pressure printed so that it has an embossed feel to it. Damn, I am one lucky Dude for sure. A woman that loves me and is supportive of my interests and not only supportive but an active participant. Thanks Margaret, I Love You. BB
How did you end up married to lady as nice as Maggie??? Congrats on the print Bob, best birthday wishes. jerry
I agree, he does have it made. I have been fortuate enough to meet the lady in person and Bob K is one lucky rascal!
Good on Maggie! I'm sure it's not easy to come up with a surprise of that caliber for a guy who's experienced what you have.
HAW!! I felt like such a heel telling you I couldn't sell you a print; even over the phone I could hear the disappointment! I'm glad the secret has been revealed!
What a great story, Bob! You're right, Maggie is a wonderful wife that Willie and I hope to meet on one of our jaunts to the various car happenings around the country. See you soon, John N
Bob you certainly married up Seriously though, it's great when the better half actually pays attention to stuff your interested in and plans ahead like this to make arrangements for such a special gift.
Like I told Maggie when I first met her at Roundup, I've always wanted to meet a saint. The short time I was around you guys at Roundup it was easy to tell you are a very fortunate man.
Congrats man.... It is great to have a hell of a wife that not only supports your interests but enjoys them with you. Not sure but you keep an eye on her or some of these horn dawg HAMBers will be trying to steal her away. Congrats again...damn that is kewl
Maggie sure is a great lady, we've enjoyed her company at the Cinematic last year and just recently at the Roundup. Congrats on the special birthday gift, I'm sure it was a very special surprise.
