I am putting together a 67 chev 283 for my 31 model A .I would like to install a set of early corvette valve covers .I am also using an early edelbrock intake with oil filler breather tube.I keep hearing that there is too much pressure buildup with this set up.I seem to remember it working well on sixties cars.My question is do I have to drill holes in these valve covers ,which Idon,t want to do to install an ugly pcv valve?

Your 283 has a hole in the block behind the intake for a road draft tube, a breather. You can plumb that to your carb with a PCV valve, or not. If not, you will get some oil splatter. You can put a PCV valve inline, or thread it into the carb base.

the problem occurs when you use early valve covers on a later block without the breather in the lifter valley.

What 49ratfink said, with a breather tube in the intake you should have no problems. By the way, "OLD SCHOOL", said the grumpy 62 yr. old fart!
