Yeah, ZZ Iron, nothing there NOT to like. FrankenPlymouth was MARRIED to every detail on this for MONTHS -- even went back, cut, re-welded, re-selamed. He's a home-grown genius if there ever was one.

Shoot, I thought about truck cabs a lot, but I don't have the eye & talent he does. Especially for a "Newbie," he don't SEEM like it! LOL

Out in the shop today doing a little more fine tuning on the body. If anybody has a early mopar front straight axle or some gasser/van axle in the portland/vancouver area email me. Thanks, Ray

Man, Your truck . . oops, I mean your coupe is really coming together ! I don't think tah anyone would ever guess that the body was a truck cab. Keep up the great work.

I like it the way the guy built it.

FrankinPlymouth, not to get the cart ahead of the horse here, but have you given much thought to what you wanna see for the interior & dash yet?

Ray, it was nice to meet you yesterday. I hope the axle works out for you, I'm glad to have a connection to your project if only a small one. It would be cool to see our cars on the road together someday.

  15. dam'n man... you have a gift i could only wish for... i usually avoid these truck to ??? threads like the plague

have you picked out a color yet? i think it's totally worthy of a "heavy flake" job... like this http://www.rodandcustommagazine.com/featuredvehicles/0811rc_1932_ford_five_window_coupe/index.html

have you finalized your wheel/tire combo and frame rake yet? i betcha some nice tall cheater slicks next to the cutouts you made would look awesome if you are going for a gasser look... blue or orange tinted glass... and maybe a homebrewed hood top with a scoop sticking out the top and some drag pipes and... blah blah blah

i know where there's a ton of pickup cabs up here... thanks for the inspiration and i really look forward to seeing where it goes from here

"poupe"... brown metalflake... white firewall... ww pie cut radirs...

Ok so i have it as a crude roller. I think i have got the guts of the shell built and the rest will be nuts and bolts. Not to bad for a first time body build that started in Jan. I think that someone walking past the poupe at a show or swap meet would think it's a coupe of some kind and that is what i was going for. I think i will let this thread wither away for now.
Here is the build in a nutshell for those just tuning in. 36 Dodge 2 ton fire truck cab,3" chop, cab extended 6", recrowned roof and slanted back with a coupe style roof insert. hand built tail, quarters and louvered trunk lid.
Truck grill with 7" out of the height and 2" out of the girth at the bottom. Widows peak center bar added. Drivetrain is a 440/727/8.8 rear and 36 mopar front axle. Will build as a altered/gasser style racer. Thanks for the support. My next build will be better!!!!!!Ray in Oregon

Ray, you have a ton of people impressed and supportive of you, as evidenced by the accolades. But, I can IMAGINE how tired you must be. Sometimes a guy juts has to put down the tools and go recharge his mental batteries.

As you say, from here on out, it's fairly routine stuff, so if you need to take a BREAK, I would say YOU have EARNED one!

    GREAT JOB, MAESTRO!
