For the last month i have been trying to get the car to steer and hang pedals. I'm short on room and long on legs. This is what i came up with. I ended up using a 80's Toyota pu manual box that bolts to the outside of the frame. It used a rag joint but found that a 90's nissan pu uses a u joint and fit this box. then went to a 3/4 shaft and a DD coupler. The Yota piman armed needed to be reamed from the other side to take the tie rod end. The pitman arm has no index so it can go anywhere. I used a speedway cross steer rod end on the pass. side and all seems well. I had to bush the mopar steering arms and reem also to fit the Ford ends. I used a 36 mopar right arm on the left side to make this work. The column is a old dodge truck one cut down. I ended up with enough room to do a through the floor brake pedal. My lake style headers will hide the whole mess. Ray

Made the headers. The inside floor next and then blow it apart. Happy Thanksgiving!

Damn what a cool CAR, you can't even tell that is or ever was a truck. Great job with the metal work, and a great eye for design.

Is the car sitting at ride height? Looks like it is too high in the front, unless the gasser look is what you are after?

Maybe just the front parellel spring suspension, that is what throws me off. Just something your not used to seeing, but not in a bad way.

the best work ive seen in a while......

the only problem i can find is you did it to good.....

when you go to a show noone will know the amount of work and effort you put into it.......it will just look like another mid 30s coupe.......to most people...

    awsome work though

Just make sure you take one of those "before" pictures and blow it up real big. Keep an album of the build pics in the car, or nobody will believe it.

I'd love to see some photo's of the work you do at your day job. You've got this hobby shit ruled, you must be the cat's ass professionally.:D

It will sit a little high in the front, ( kinda gasser) I will kick the rear up another inch.

That was the idea. I don't want one thing to stand out......just blend together. And no before and after pics in a album. It would give people a reason to pick at it. Just let it sit there. Ray

  24. I've blown past this thread a number of times and for some reason today I clicked in. Now that I've spent over an hour reading and studying the pix I can only think of one thing to say.

    DAMN!!! That's talent!

You nailed "The Look". I wouldn't change a thing you've done. Amazing work Sir.

Hey, Starting in on some of the inside sheetmetal. I'm glad i did some pre planning when bracing for the quarters. Built a nice tool cuddy and bat. box under the floor and mounted the 16 gal. fuel cell. On to the cab floor and tunnel next. Ray

So this week i have been doing odds and ends. I bought a HF bead roller and beefed it up and put a old ships wheel on it i had. Starting to work on the floor/tunnel area. As usual not enogh room for my feet and pedals/trans. Almost one year since i started cutting on the once PU cab. I better get moving. Ray

Well, I know it's taking a while, but your doing better than I am on my project. I'm into my third year, and looks like it might be at least another one. Between the temps here in Maine/unheated garage, and my reduced income since having to quit my job in Sept of '07 due to health issues, it's been a slow process. Your's is looking great, I wish I had your talent. Perley
