it looks a little long in the quarters. Rather than lengthening the doors, try scooching the rear wheels forward some.

Today I pie cut the crown of the roof and pulled the bottom out a little. I also borrowed a coupe quarter panel thats one step up from cardboard and duct tape. Let's me look at it some more.... If anybody can tell me what it may be off it would be nice? It nailed on up by the roof line and is most likely a 3w something? And yes being tall sucks in a chopped coupe. My 36 i looked out the rear quarter windows. Ray

i THINK that might be early chev quarters... do they have a sharp line along the top edge and not a smooth roll from the side?

I have a couple old truck cabs I have been saving just to do practice chops on, but now you have me scared to cut them up, now I see so much more potential in them! You are doing great! Jim

Pretty darn close from where Im sitting. Pulling the bottom out makes all the difference. Great project, keep up the good work!

I feel like that rear quarter is too short in height. If it extended down to the rocker similar to other coupes I think you may get away with it.

Eh, I'm not sure looking at the pic again. I'm thinking section the cab and it'll be legit.

Getting close, the revised rear roof looks better, I think it could come out a bit more, or slant the rear door pillar forward.

Very interesting build though, if you can pull this off and make it look "right" you'll really have something here. It's been done before but I don't think it's ever looked good, you could be making history with this one.

This is what I came up with. I took a bunch more out of the crown - which really helps the look - raked the B pillars a little, pushed the back of the roof back another few inches and raked it even more than you have it now. No extra chop from where you had it. Looks more or less like an un-chopped 3W from the proportions I can see. How it´ll shape up from the width, I can´t say, but from the side, you could be onto a winner.

Yup, this ones the winner. Leaning the "B" pillar forward a few degrees is what did the trick for me, and rounding off the corners. Do you have a drivers side whatever quarter panel that is?

LOL, I'm 5'4", with the top up in the '36 (that's my avitar), I look right at the inside of the top. Try chopped, sectioned, channeled and shortened, they get pretty cramped in a hurry!

I like what James D came up with. I think the problem is to get the door to not look like it came from a pickup. Rounding the corner and slanting it helps. The best would be to make the door longer but that is not the easiest so extending the back of the cab into the rear helps. It is getting closer.

This is really coming out neat. Here is James D's version with the doors lengthen just a bit.

OK, I will go out and play a tittle today with it. Those pics you guy's do help a bunch.
Once i get this figured out i will know not to do this again!
I have both rear quarters but they are not mine and are rough. I will use them as the buck for forming the tail. If i stumble onto a coupe rear i would do it but what kinda challenge is that? I see lots of welding and grinding in my future. Ray

What about taking 2 or 3 inches out of the middle of the door? It would make it look a lot less like a pick up cab...It is an arduous process but it seems to be your thing anyways...

I agree, James D's photochop really improves the design.

I blew the thing back apart and started making sleeves for all the joints so i can tack it together and it will stay in place better. I decide to leave the doors alone for now. I'm liking this look the best. My car buddies think i'm nuts.....................Ray

JamesD, you've got a good eye! Also, there was a 30/31 A Coupe for parts on KSL.com a while back. Might be available still? I'm thinking you gotta convince your buddy to sacrifice those quarters. This project is awesome.

    That looks cool as hell.

How much room do you anticipate in the cab (IIRC you mentioned you were tall, I'm 6'3" so I tend to think of stuff like that).

He´s 6`7" - hence the lack of a heavy chop!

Yeah, that's what I thought he said, but I missed it on a scan back through the thread (I was in a bit of a hurry).
