I just have to comment on AG, saw it about 73, I think. Absolutely loved it as “ crusing “ was and is my favorite thing! During my hay day of crusing ‘ 65 till ‘72 when I got married, everything that happened in the movie, happened to me! (Except jerking the rear axle out of the police car) Sometimes I was “Toad “ sometimes I was “ Milner “ most of the time I was just in between, crusing. Loved it, lived for it! The movie was a cross section of my life.
We weren’t quite a “ kool “ as the West coast scene here in Oklahoma, but we had as much fun as was humanly possible! My ride during this time was OT car here, but it had 271 advertised horse power in the HiPo version. Still have that car, too. Still have my memories!

  3. I saw AG in 1974 with a bunch of buddies. Although we were from many different parts of Canada, we were all floored by how AG matched the feeling of the time. We all had the warm fuzzy nostalgic feeling of the time, and after the movie over some beers, we all began recounting all kinds of crazy stunts we pulled.
I grew up in central BC, in a town of 10,000, and Bernard Ave was the main drag. Even if my closest buddy and I were broke, we would scare up enough gas money to put some gas in at least one of our cars so we could sit at our favourite parking spot on one of the corners so as not to miss any activity. Any challenges, would start on the drag and adjourn to one of a couple of our favourite lonely roads to see who would be the victor. There were too many orchards nearby, so we never normally ran more than the one race.
The cops were fair, and reasonable, and most of us felt there was a warm relationship. As a club, we did a lot of service work, for example, we all took the St John's first aid course, which came in handy several times, where our members provided help at routine accidents until the ambulance arrived.
I was involved in some stuff where we could have been charged, and the cop let us off by taking the beer and giving us a verbal warning.
We had two drive-ins, Grace's and the North End Drive-in, and the majority of the socializing took place at these two haunts.
I loved the concept of chaining the rear end of a cop car to a post, but the RCMP didn't hide out like that, and there would never have been such an opportunity.
    A wonderful time.
