Well, no surprise to anyone who knows me, but the '34 still isn't back together yet. I haven't taken it further apart, so that would be a surprise to most. LOL Just been super busy with summer and home and lake projects (and finishing my shoebox kit for the Lead Ain't Dead Buildoff), so not too much shop time. @Tim did get to see it last week, so there is proof of life anyway. LOL I did get an evening last week to work for an hour or two and made a little progress. Hopefully after we get back from vacation, I can get it back together and back on the road. I have a friend from England coming in Oct and going to the Roc with us. With his knees not sure if it's better for him to get in and out of the Impala (which is what I have registered) or the '34, so kinda need to get it done by then for a backup just in case that's the better ride. LOL

Since update posts with no pics are lame with no pics, here's the shoebox model finished. lol

That's killer! I really want to do a fade paint job like that... I didn't start my shoebox build because I found out my presence is required at a relative's wedding the weekend of Lead Aint Dead...

You do great work! Wish I were able to get to the show. Glad to hear 34 is still in the plans, if you ever get tired of it…………..!

Thanks, but in full disclosure, it looks better in the pics....I had a fair amount of airbrush drama and feel blessed to have ended up with a presentable paint job after the mess I was making. Ha!

I wish I was able to make the show as well.....we will be out of town so I'm gonna miss the whole deal. lol

Not sure I'll get tired of the '34 any time soon, but I'd make you a deal on a '30 Model A Town Sedan. Hahaha!

Well, believe it or not, I had a weekend free to work on this thing this last weekend. Last I worked on it I was installing the new sending units in the intake and it felt like the threads were letting go. The intake is powder coated chrome, which is peeling and corroding, along with some of the threads. I thought, "eh, surely it's ok and it won't leak, keep moving forward."

The longer it sat, I finally decided what's another afternoon of work to swap the intake and know I'm good. So, this weekend I installed the same intake, but new and polished rather than powder coated.

    IMG_2392.jpg

Got that all in, all the new sending units in and all the wiring sorted. There had been a lot of stuff added and removed over the years that was just hanging around....parts of an alarm system, under car neon, an under dash horn*****on instead of a working steering wheel horn*****on and the electric fans were wired a little wonky. All cleaned up and as it should be now. Also removed the rest of the billet and replaced it all with finned aluminum. So, the engine side is all done and*****oned up.

    IMG_2431.jpg

The new gauge panel is a little smaller than the billet one I am taking out, so I made some adapter rings to be able to clamp it over the larger hole in the dash. The turn signal and high beam indicator positions are marked and ready to be drilled, but I didn't have the right size drill bit when I went to do it last night, so picked one up this morning and am ready to drill those holes and****emble the panel. From there it's just*****oning up the dash, installing the new banjo wheel and I think I'm in bidness. Maaaaaaayybe back on the road by next week.

Got a few other odds and ends done as well....sandblasted, POR15'd and top coated the bottom of the framework on our new neon sign before it gets planted in the flower bed.

...aaaaand messed with another fade paint job. Haha!

Thanks! I dunno about nailed, but I think it's looking much more traditional than when I picked it up. LOL

I've really enjoyed getting back into it after a 40+ year break after being challenged by a friend. I'm not getting a ton of them built, but one or two a year maybe.

You have really improved the looks of that sedan. You should really consider bringing it to Middle Tennessee next May for Model 40 Mayhem.

That intake looks WAY better polished than powder coated. Even if the powder coat had been brand new and without flaws. Ya done good son.

Thanks a bunch guys. I’m really pleased with how it’s coming around. Funny how a few small changes really have changed it from street rod to more traditional.

@Weedburner 40 thanks for the heads up on the show. We are always looking for some a new show to check out. We’ll have to see if we can work it into the calendar.

Wow, thanks for showing us how it's done. I might have to go out and work on my stalled project tonight so I don't feel so bad about myself. :) Looking good!

Thanks Travis! Not sure about "how it's done" but it's how I've done it any way. Hahahaha!
