  1. Bruce you are right on as usual. The Unilite is cool to the bone but only if you are a detail freak. For the average I just wanna drive it and I'm not real good with electric stuff, magnets is the only way to go.

No reason to drop a lot of coin for ignition unless your are serious about winning at either the stop light drags or ??? For the Ford avoid the earlier ignition with the exterior control box they will take a dump on you in a heartbeat. Get the dizzy that is all self contained.

Buy or have your old man dig out the dwell meter if your sticking with the points, my experience with the Mallory has always been good, make sure the rubbing blocks are lubed and be aware that some of the hi-po stuff has a really stiff spring ,to avoid point bounce, so the blocks wear out fast and shorten your dwell! NAPA has good stuff available and maybe even in stock?

I am running one of their series 85 HEI units and had the vacuum advance unit spring a leak after 8 months of use. Summit is sending a new unit out under warranty though. Still a pain.

Geting help from mallory is almost impossible. you know more about their products than they do. I put in a pertronix and got rid of the points and solved the problem. The ignition answer is called MSD.
