I have recently bought a Mallory Distributor for my Y block (272) and wanted to know a bit more about it.
For starters it's a YC336HP, searched the web and found nothing!
I see people with YC311HP, is there much difference?
Any info will be appreciated, thanks.

    Trevwood,

My catalogs show the Mallory 311 as being correct for the 55-56 272 and 292 engines.

    The 336 is shown as a 57-59 312 application.
There could be a difference in the drive gear, lower end and oil pump drives between the two units..

I think the Y Blocks used a tang drive, and a couple different sizes of oil pump drives....????????

    Good info GMC BUBBA thanks.
I'll be sure to check those areas out before using it.

Had some good info come from the Y Block forum that said there is no difference in gears and oil drive shaft between the 336 and 311, so it's good to go. Trev.
